I was like you but...I have learned to say thank you when someone goes to the effort of complimenting me. I feel better and they smile in acknowledgment that the compliment wasn't a waste of their time. Try complimenting other people and see that it is a little scary to give compliments and if people reject your compliment ...you feel regret and foolish. So put yourself in their shoes and just say thank you.

When someone compliments you just say "thank you" and leave it at that. Dont brush it off, just accept the compliment.
When you are talking about something you can do really well try to to just explain the story and not the talent. But no matter where you go or what you do in life there will always be someone who is jealous of you because of your talents so try to not let that bother you.

i have the same problem too. i get called concieted even when i don't give them a reason to. and other people are always asking me why i think so badly of myself. it's weird. i act the same way around everybody. i can be having a conversation with two people, and one will think i'm concieted, and the other one will think i have low selfesteem. maybe it depends on the person. when i find out how to deal with this, you'll be the first one to find out, mean while, just don't care about what people say.

when complimented thank people graciously without downplaying it and smile and agree. if you are discussing something you are good at (and obviously interested in) anyone worth their salt and who cares about you in any way will enjoy discussing it with you and not call you conceited. People who do that are jealous, plain and simple. Friends are supposed to cheer us on always!

You know what you are and are not.
If you are conceited, you can say it isn't`t true but the fact your not being honest will show through.Maybe not right away, but the more they are around you and know you they will pick up on it....

I understand what your saying, Your damn if you do and damn if you don't. When someone complements you on something just say thank you! By saying thank you they shouldn't think you are being conceited and if they do then obviously they are jealous!

When you brag about it yourself then you are conceited.
If people compliment you, don't be afraid to take that compliment and gloat. In your case, be happy and say "Thank you"...but don't go on about saying how good you are at other things...

You're not supposed to be putting yourself, you have to be proud of your good character traits and talents, and looks. You don't have to brag about them. Just say thank you, and make the most of your talents, for others and for yourself
