Does anyone else think that it is very arrogant of we humans to believe that in all of this great , vast and never ending universe, that we, here on this tiny little speck of dust, are the only intelligent beings? I believe that there are worlds that have been civilized for many thousands of years or hundreds of thousands of years longer than ours. I shudder to think of how advanced their technology is compared to ours.

yea,.. i do think there are others...its awfully selfish of us to think we are so very important that this entire ..gigantic universe was created for only us....also if u believe in god..why would he create this HUGE universe if we were only ment to use a spec of it...why the heck would he waste his time if no1 is going to use it?...well he probably wouldnt.....so he must have created it for others to use....and there must be others out there

It is almost incomprehensible that there ISN'T more life out there. There may, in fact, be more life in our solar system, in the deep oceans of the moons Encephalus (Saturn) and Europa (Jupiter). Such life would probably not be very advanced, and almost certainly not intelligent. But in the coming years and decades we should be sending probes out to these places to investigate. I think one is already in the works to send to Europa; it would melt its way thru the surface ice until it got to the ocean underneath.

Over the past decade or so we've developed the technological ability to discover planets around other stars. Judging from what we've found so far, it could be that maybe 50% of all stars have planets around them.

My gut feeling is that primitive life is probably not too rare in our galaxy, but intelligent life is. There's a formula called the Drake equation that one can use to estimate the number of intelligent species in our galaxy. (See link below.) Using the best available data, it looks like we may be the only intelligent species, or maybe one or two others. But with about 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe, there ought to be at the least, tens of millions of intelligent races. Unfortunately unless one of them figures out how to bypass the laws of physics, we're not likely to ever meet up with more than one of them, if even that. We're just too far apart. Still, if we ever did....

There SHOULD be life out there... AND they could have also thought the way YOU thought... so, thinking about that logically, there is no sense of thinking about that anymore... anyway, by way of your thinking, you're just becoming optimistic and looking forward for any technological advances, because, if you think that way, you'll have the motivation of building something that could really find a way to seek answers for your questions... but I would just like to give you some clues... MOST PROBABLY, I can say, if they do exist, then the'yre technology are not that far too advanced from ours. Why??? If they really are then, they must have already shown themselves on earth... What I mean is, they should have already introduced themselves to US, humans.
Note: Well, do not bother about those UFO's, I don't believe in those, because they're probably just the doings of those geek who can't prove anything such as the existence of aliens...

Ofcourse, I do. They may not be intelligent enough to contact us, just as we are not intelligent enough to contact them.

Yes, it is quite arrogant to think that we are the most intelligent of the creatures in the entire universe.

If those civilizations do have the technology to kill us and are malicious, then why are we still here?

There is also that theory that those civilizations are so advanced that they just ignore Earth because it is so insignificant.

yes probably in another solar system. Space is so vast though I doubt they could get here and visa versa. Maybe in other 500 years atleast. They'd need to spend atleast 3 years travelling to get here.

I just saw this today...

"If we are the only intelligent life in the universe, we can take comfort in knowing there are a finite number of idiots".

Yes, indeed! I'm quite certain that it is these aliens (or angels, in the Bible), who brought life to earth originally, and who will soon return to earth to save our necks from nuclear annihilation.

Mylady,

Your belief system is in harmony with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Would that frighten you?
