I tried starting {F8} to get to safemode, it lets you pick your option then it goes to some weird error message. I tried even rebooting my operating system but i can't get past the black screen . Any suggestions?

If you can access system restore in safe mode try to set it back to a date when your computer last worked properly. If you cannot you might have to reformat your c-drive. The bad thing about that is you will lose all of your saved files.

Go to a technician, if you can't do anything about it. Don't even try because you can end up loosing all your files on your hard disk. The technician might do a back up of your hard disk. And the technician will know what the problem is, because he'll see that weird message which tells the problem.
So the best thing is to get a save your files, hard disk and format the system! And a good Anti-virus and pop up blocker

If your computer is over 4 years old, then get a new computer.

When you say a "black screen" is there a little blinking underline cursor in the upper left corner of the black screen? If there is, then pressing all together might get you going again.

Make sure you haven't installed any programs or hardware or changed any settings to cause this. If you have done any of those things prior to this happening then you need to take steps to reverse what you did.

Obviously the master boot record is corrupted and there nothing , i think you can do about it.

Try running an antivirus CDrom to clean the hardrive under DOS
First, enter CMOS setting and change the boot sequence into D:, save and exit. Put the CD in the bay and turn the PC on.

( Antivirus software or spyware must be recent or updated in order to clean the harddrive)

No guarantee that will solve proble , booting files might be severely damaged.

I don't think you have a virus problem. I personally think your windows itself is missing some files to load itself up properly. You might want to try F8 and then going into the last known configuration & restore your windows to the last good restore point. IF your windows is corrupted majorly, than that will still not save you, and your better off popping in the windows XP and reinstalling. YOU might be able to reinstall windows without wiping your hard drive, this will allow you to overwrite the files that are needed to run windows with fresh ones. To do that, you simply pop in your XP cd, boot to it, and DO NOT click restore windows first. There's 2 instructions to reinstall windows on top of your installation. The first one doesnt' work, it's the second time they ask you to is the one you want.

Error messages are not wierd. Write them down. TEchs know what they mean. So tell us and us techs can assist you better.

People tend to think of an Error Message as teh robot in Lost in Space waving it's arms around going 'DANGER WILL ROBINSON DANGER" But then ol' wil lhas to say 'What is it Robot?" before you learn what's wrong.

Error messages are worded to tell you what exactly is going on and what to do to take care of it. ANY error message should be written down - verbatim.

Try hitting Ctrl-Alt-Delete. It worked for my cousin's computer and he was getting pop-ups when he wasn't even on the internet.

Otherwise it doesn't sound like your computer is gonna start up to download Norton AntiVirus or Zone Alarm. You're gonna have to take it a computer place to be fixed if they can do anything at all about the problem. I normally say that if your computer can't start up you can't fix it.

If you do need a new computer PLEASE for your own sake get one of them or even both if they'll work with each other on the same computer just to be double protected incase one crashes. You can get them at the following sites:

http://www.zonealarm.com/

You can also download anti-virus programs at the following sites:
