what is the best way to ask a horse to gallop? I really dont like the kick thing. If you are in a spacious arena and need to gallop lightly, what is the best way to ask?

Instead of kicking, squeeze, and drive him forward, encourage him with your voice, move you hands up his neck, to allow him to extend his neck, and be sure to rise into a two-point. The two-point will free his back from your weight, and allow him to fully extend.

some horses like to gallop better on a long flat stretch then in an areana. i just push my hands up my horses neck and kiss. she loves to gallop. sometimes a horse running beside them will pump them up to want to run. not racing. just galloping slowly together. sqweezing a little farther back on there sides will help them feel leg. plus ur already leaning forward a bit. so it all works out.

I click my tounge and get up into a two point position and slide my reins up on his neck. Mine guy will go up one gait ever time you click to him. He will come down one gait when you tell him easy.
I ride an ex-race horse so gallop is the easy thing for us it is stop that took some work.

kiss and squeeze your legs. By lungeing you can teach your horse commands by word which is what I use because it is easy for everything.
