As soon as the man ejaculates the sperm a well on their way through the cervix. The benefit of laying still for a while is so that the slow swimmers can get into the cervix as well but millions are already swept up by cervical mucus and where they need to be. If you have time to lay still, that's fine, but if not, don't worry about it. Many babies have been conceived by quickies and the woman didn't have time to lay still. The biggest piece of advice I can give you about getting pregnant is timing!! You only have a short window of opportunity each cycle to get pregnant so find out when you ovulate and have sex every other day during your fertile period. Ovulation happens 14 (give or take 2 day) days BEFORE your next period is due!

No, you don't have to lay there. A man's sperm is fast, real fast and it is not necessary to lay there on your back with you hips elevated for 20-30 minutes.

I think if you're having trouble conceiving, that is one technique that may increase your chances. But normally it's not necessary to do that. Sperms and eggs are pretty good at finding each other without much extra help. Good luck!!

Some people believe it helps sperm fight gravity and help them have more of a chance of reaching the egg. Some women swear by it and swear that's how they got pregnant. Others don't think it's necessary. I have done it several times as I figure it can't hurt and it hasn't helped yet (that I know of anyway...too early to tell). Don't do it if you're prone to bladder infections, though!

no thats not necessary. People get pregnant all the time with or without hip elevation.

It isn't nessary, you can even do it where you lay there for a minute or two. Just have fun having sex, don't worry about getting pregnant, it will happen because by stressing about pregnancy it will make it harder. No one's body likes stress! LOL!
