Samsanov was an unrestricted free agent this summer and Dallas didn't sign him (Montreal did for 2 years) so I guess it's safe to assume they either weren't interested or unwilling to pay the amount of money he felt he deserved.
As for Ovechkin....I can guarantee you they are VERY VERY interested as is every other team in the NHL. However that is a moot point because Ovy is currently under contract, absolutely will not be on the trading block and once his rookie contract is up (2 more years) he will be offered the max by his current club Washington. The absolute earliest any club will have a shot at Ovechkin will be 6 years from now when he will be able to qualify as an unrestricted free agent. At that point Dallas may go after him but so will every other team that has room under the salary cap for a superstar like AO!!!

I'm am almost one hundred percent sure that the Dallas Stars are not going to get Ovechkin. There will be a better team he would want to play for or a team that will pay him the most anybody has been paid in the history of the NHL. Samsonov, on the other hand, probably will be going to the Stars. If he doesn't he probably will not have as good of a years as he would if he went to Dallas.

I would have to believe that Ovechkin is an untouchable. I do not think even the most inept franchise would which Washington does fall into would deal a young star who is a rainmaker when it comes to putting the puck into the net. If he was available every team in the league would be bidding on that young mans services. Samsanov signed with the Canadians. So the Stars had a chance to get him and something happened. He was out there for a bit of time. I do not think Mtl would trade their biggest free agent acquisition right now. Maybe Dallas can take a run at Bondra and play him with Lindros. It could be the fragile old line. Good luck with your season.

well Samsanov is with the Montreal Canadiens for the next 2 years. Ovechkin will be in Washington for a very long time, so you will not see any off these two players in Dallas uniforms for a while. well you get to see Lindros go down and show that the Stars did the same mistake as the Leafs did by signing him.

Sergei Samsonov signed a two year deal with the Montreal Canadiens. As for Ovechkin, He's with the Washington Capitals for a long time.

Everyone's interested in getting Ovechkin, but is Washington going to part with him? I don't think so, especially after the Calder winning year. Samsonov? Maybe, if the Stars can offer the right price.

Samsonov signed a two-year deal with Montreal weeks ago!
I think your post must be a joke. Before a deal happens, the team has to be willing to deal Ovechkin. Since Washington has expressed nothing of the sort, why even bother wondering wondering where he will be going if he is not leaving (why trade a franchise player? What can you get in return that is better?).
