"Pre-med" is not a requirement for medical school, but you will need 4 years of college and a degree. Then 4 years of medical school. Then 3-8 years of residency (depending on what area of medicine you want to practice in). Then you make the big bucks.
Good luck - residency is brutal.

The only thing I have to add to the first answer is that after you're done, you might make a good salary, but nearly everyone also has HUGE student loans to pay off, too.

It takes 11 years to become a doctor in america, but if ou want a better job you could become a patent lawyer and go to school for 8 years and make double from what a doctor makes, a doctor makes about 150000 and a patent lawyer makes about 350000.
