I have witnessed cremations from beginning to end, and no they do not curl into fetal position or any other position, for that matter.

If you want good info on dying, Hospice has an excellent phamplet that tells of the various stages that loved ones go through during the dying process. I'm not talking cremation here, but just your average death. Interestingly enough, the fetal position is one of the stages that a person takes while in the process of dying. I don't know about cremation though, as the person has pretty much shed this mortal coil by that time. If any fetal positioning does take place it's more likely to be because muscle tissue is contorting due to dehydration.

Where did you get this theory and what evidence do you have to support it? If the person wanted to be cremated, I would have them cremated. The person is no longer in the body when it's cremated so why should I care?

I do not find that disturbing nor would it deter me from cremation (which I plan to do). Since I've never been to a crematorium I would not hazard a guess what happens during the process.

i know i would not like to be cremated. but despite it being uncomfortable for me to know a family relative is being creamted, at the end of the day, it is their wish and i must abide by it.

peace and love

What position do bodies that are left to rot in the ground and get consumed by maggots contort into?

I didn't know that. Interesting if it is true. I intend on being cremated actually. When you're dead, you won't feel anything, so why does it matter?

I wouldn't have anyone cremated no matter what the process was.

iv never head that before. i dont think it could happen they are cremated inside coffins arent they or if not that in a very narrow furnace it would be hard for their limbs to move and they are dead. but it would be interesting sceince behind it if they actauly did.
