Yes, they still exist, just not nearly in the numbers they used to. While they used to make up 15% of the eligible population, they number in the couple of thousands today.. The reason you don't hear about them as often anymore is because the media finally stopped giving them so much attention.

It will surprise people, but they claim to be completely nonviolent, and in many cases they demonstrate peacefully in the middle of towns. They CLAIM they have been given a bad image by Hollywood, and that they don't HATE black people or minorities, just that they don't believe in intermixing races. They CLAIM that they have a strict membership process, and most people who are just racist skinheads wouldn't necessarily be associated with the klan, which is why they have been given such a bad image.

Then again, this is what they CLAIM, and often what they have practiced has contradicted all of that.

As for them existing, their very existence is what is best about this country, in a weird way. People have the right to say and do what they want with freedom, just until you start infringing on someone else's right. The ACLU has defending the klansman on more than one occasion, and right now Democratic Senator Byrd is the only known former member still left holding public office.

The Ku Klux Klan is a racist and disgusting group of people with a very closed and selfish way of thinking. The only reason they are still around and active is that their beliefs are protected by the same rights and freedoms that are provided by the United States Constitution.

They still exist and no one can stop them because of their freedom to say how they feel, but they are better hidden these days. Instead of sheets they were suits, jeans, skirts, and hide behind computer screens and voice their opinions there.

To the person that compared KKK to black panther and NAACP. Those organizations don't promote hate. They promote equality for all that's a big difference. KKK is about hating others not equality.

Fact: 30-40% of all funds in the NAACP goes toward education for white, black, Hispanic, Asian all other nationalities. Other races were and are very much involved in the black panther party. Many whites were active in our movements.

They still exist, you'll find chapters in most states across the union, and nobody stops them because they have every right to be a group. They don't really do much besides yell a lot and have meetings to confirm they still hate all non-protestant/non-white persons in America. They're nothing to worry about anymore, and haven't been for a good 20 or so years.

They crop up every now and then. I guess people don't do much about them because they're pretty weak and pathetic and it makes more sense to find kids who bring guns to school and commit mass murder and stop them...no, wait. Nobody ever stops them ahead of time. Dude, I don't know. Read Freakonomics--it has a part about the KKK--some guy infiltrated it and weakened it quite a bit and it still hasn't recovered. I guess resources are limited and other groups are considered more of a threat, but if you wanna stop white supremacist groups, find one and go to it! Kudos if you can crush those hateful clubs.

Yes, unfortunately the KKK still exists.

They mostly exist in small groups in the old Confederate states -in the South. (See information about the Civil War if you don't know what I mean.)

People don't stop them because now their bark is worse than their bite. Too many laws prevent them from going back to their old day rituals. (Primarily, they are blocked by the Equal Rights Movement. But there are other laws too.)

yes of course its still in the south. Out of all the places I have been, the most racist people I've meet were out of Florida, New York, parts of California and the midwest. With that said they are everywhere. And for someone trying to stop them speaking is denying them their 1st amendment. So just let them talk march or whatever and laugh at any man that has to wear a sheet over his head to disclose his identity. I'm from Mississippi and they jsut make me laugh.......sorry.

maisyday07--it is "ku klux klan"...not "klu"

And yes, they still exist. As a matter of fact, there is a branch of the KKK known as the "Knights Party" whose national headquarters is in Harrison, AR.

And we can't stop them because they have the First Amendment to protect them. It sucks, but true.
