How about Starbucks or a coffe shop similar to Starbucks.

My initial reaction would be a Starbuck's however I've heard that franchisees don't make as much as you'd think. What about another kind of coffee establishment? Caribou Coffee, Arabica, something like that BUT with a twist. . .make it a drive through (offers convenience for the working class & the soccer Moms) AND offer gift baskets, marketing to local businesses within a radius of the location (again, another convenience during holidays, birthdays). Even offer delivery of the gift baskets!
One more idea would be a pizza shop. If it's a busy street, you could offer "by the slice" specials to encourage foot traffic and lunch specials for local businesses, not to mention the obvious consumer benefits. Hope the ideas help. Good luck!

Busy Street would be a strip mall. Gives people a place to pull off and park. Anchor it with a drive thru that encourages people to get out quickly. Leaving room for longer parking at regular stores. On drive thru that has disappeared, but could come back is like Altadena Dairy used to do. Grab milk and groceries as you head home without getting out of the car.

Depends on your market. Why don't you open on the store with little to no decoration and have a table set-up and do a daily prize for something to get people in the store. Once they are in ask them what you think the market needs. Could be video games, could be blockbuster, could be food. All depends on the market. But I would seriously do research in your market.
