I already have 5 yards of 44" gorgeous flannel, and want to order more of the same so I can make a set of bedsheets (fitted + flat sheet). It's for a 39"X75" twin bed.

Some things are not worth the effort to sew and the finished product can be disappointing, keep this in mind, decide if you really want to do this project. Don't mean to throw cold water on your enthusiasm but finding some flannel sheets premade is a heck of a lot easier! You will have to piece the fabric and who wants seams in their sheets? 44" wide fabric is not wide enough so you will have to piece a strip. It may take about 8 yards to make both altogether. Using 3 strips about 2 3/4 yds. long. Use 2 strips as they are and the third one to piece to the other two. I can't imagine trying to sew the elastic for the fitted sheet, but good luck to you if you try. Instead of making sheets, you might find more success in using your adorable flannel to make a nice comforter/quilt and they aren't hard to make.

Its going to be a bit of a pain in the ***, but you could probably be okay with 5 1/2 yards or so 3 for the bottem and 2 1/2 for the top. Your going to have to fangle the bottem because you're not going to have enough fabric across to get around the sides. Its much easyer to make twin sheets out of 60" material.
