Yes DSL and telephone work on the same two wires.

I have DSL. It uses the same line as your telephone. That is why they give you filters to put on your telephones so you will not hear the DSL.

No you don't need to get a 2nd line. With DSL you can call while online.

No, you only need one phone line; the two services don't interfere. However, my experience with DSL was very negative; I since switched to cable and it's been much more reliable.

I do all the time. You should get plug in filters from your provider to hook between the pones and the line. Works fine.
