Is it okay for a 8 year old to shave??

Question

My bestfriend has daughter who is 8 years old.
She wanted to shave her legs.
So I made a deal with her... I told her that twice a month I would shave her legs for her.
Am I wrong.

Her moms not in her life.
So Im like her mother.
Her dad knows that I shave her legs. But he said he is a man and doesnt know what to think about it.

And why are you offering to shave the child's legs? Does the girl have a Mother? Does she know you've offered to shave her legs?

I bet if you took her to get her legs waxed, she'll never ask to have the hair removed from her legs again.

I think thats pretty stupid. An 8 year-old has no business shaving her legs. She's only a child, who should still be thinking about Barbies and tea-time. The only exception if she was as hairy as a monkey, then yeah. Shave her. But she's not even your daughter. You have no business shaving her legs.

Why would you want her to grow up so soon? Let her be a child while she still can.

you need to sit her down and explain to her that right now is not the time for shaving. however, dont make her feel demeaned or like youre looking down on her becuase shes younger. instead of shavings, offer for the two of you to go out on a special date twice a month - ice cream and manicures! She'll love it, it'll make her feel very very grown up and it will make you closer.
you see, i think its just an age complex; she wants to be older (maybe youre her role model) but shaving legs is not the way to go about that. So do something that will make her feel sophisticated, like the manis or make up your own.
An OK age to start shaving is 12.

You should not shave her legs. She shouldn't be worried about what her legs look like right now. She is still too young. I say stop shaving her legs until she's at least a teenager.

I started shaving when I was 8 or 9 so, no I think you're fine. As long as her mom knows then you're fine. There is no perfect age, it should be the daughter's decision. Unless of course the daughter decides this at 4!

No. Your perfectly ok. I am 12, and I know what ppl think about hair on their legs at that age. My friend is 8, and she doesnt care, but she says alot of girls shave at her age. Also, sence its only 2ce a month, who cares? it grows back in at the most 2 weeks, so yea.....

Also, its not that big of a deal. Shaving...its just a way of getting hair off your legs.

I wouldn't allow my 8 year old to shave, to me that is way to young, they shouldn't be worried about their looks at a young age, they should just be having fun with their Friends.

Its really up to your best friend to decide for their child. But Its not like against the law or its gonna kill her so theres not really any thing seriously wrong. but technically most people do wait until they're about 4 years older than 8! I was 12, but thats just me. its really prolly better you did it for her so she didnt cut herself as much or anything bcuz shes never handled a razor! You may not have made the BEST choice, but you didnt make a terrible one.

And for the people who are saying "YESSS WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?" just give her a break! thats one non-hairy 8 year old! no just kidding but still!

I feel that an 8 year old is too young to shave her legs. that is something a grown up would do. so please she is too young. you have to be the grown up and say not until you get older.
