you might want to help them find a good counselor, help them find something that makes them happy, hobbies and things of that sort. I was depressed and i didnt come out of it until i found something i loved to do, nursing. I love my job as a nurse aid and now i want to go to school to be a nurse.

Listening is good. But sometimes you just need your friend to be there. Have a couple of movie nights, cook dinner together and have a drink. Talk to them and let them know that you understand and your there for them. Next pray... pray that God makes them stronger. Weeping may endure for a night but JOY comes in the morning. Depression is a spirit that you have to pray off them. Make them smile because the bad comes with the good! There is no way of getting around that!

If your friend is suicidal--TELL SOMEONE!!
A teacher, parent, counseler, somebody needs to know so they can get the help that they need.
You are not a psychiatrist and people who say they are going to commit suicide, most of them try to, and some of them succeed. Don't wait! Tell someone now! Do it for your friend. You might be saving a life!!!

The truth is your friends may need professional help. Tell them about your local Health Services Agency. They are normally run by the county you live in and serve public health issues.

Listening and being supportive is important. Your advice may not be. Try and urge them to talk with someone with experience in these matters...Therapists, Clergy, etc.
If the one is truly suicidal you may need to discuss with someone in their family they respect to get them some immediate help.

Ask them what it is that makes them feel bad about themselves. If you can get down to the bottom (main) thing that they are worried about and try to fix it. Try to say stuff to boost their self confidence and solves the problem. Always tell them how good you think they are and how you would feel if they were gone, and always do and say things to make them feel happy. Well, good luck i hope nothing too drastic happens to them.

well...there is nothing that you can do about it. unfortunately i would say just hang in there but it's something they have to deal with personally, theres's something inside of them that is allowing them to feel the way that they do. and nothing that you say is going to change their mind. i have no doubt that you've been a great friend but friends can't do everything they can try but they can't. i hope it all works out, i know it's depressing but just be their friend is all they can ask for and all you can do.

If u feel it is out of your hands please let them seek professional help, because if your friend commits suicide u will be thinking i should have said this or that instead.
Seek the help of a councilor, pastor, or any kind of social worker who have training in this area and please do it sooner than later.

It is not your place in life to "fix" these people. Back off....you are probably doing more harm than good. They have to fix themselves.
