No! Ferrets were trained to hunt mice, rabbits, rats and other small things. Though as long as you keep it away from your smaller pets I don't really see a problem. Let me tell you though, as ferret owner, ferrets are alot of work! If you don't go the time then you shouldn't consider one. Back to your question, they might get along but I highly doubt it.

Hope i was of help to you and if you do get a ferret and have questions, look me up!
By the way if you have dogs or cats, they will get along pretty ok with ferrets.

Not at all, unfortunately. Ferrets were actually domesticated mostly because of their hunting abilities. They, like cats, where often kept to hunt mice and rats (as well as slightly larger prey). Ferrets are also similar to cats in that they are strict carnivores. It could make very quick work of the rat.

Putting them together would be a disaster, I'm sorry. It might still be okay to get a ferret, but just keep them separate. Ferrets need a much larger cage anyways, so it's not like you could keep them together in the first place.

Ferrets should not get along with an animal that is their natural prey, even if they have "imprinted" on their kibble as food. That said, my first ferret WAS raised as a kit with a rat and the guy said they slept together and played together great. But then, I also had a friend who's cat got along with her rat. I guess letting them play together depends on how much you love your rat!

Putting the two together, without supervision, would result in a conflict. If both are full grown in may take a while for them to size each other up, but a fight eventually would begin. Results being 9 out of 10 in favor of the ferret but there would be wound on both side no matter the winner so if you love either of them it would be insane to put them together.

I have heard that ferrets like rats very much. Consider them quite tasty, in fact.
