I read this article the other day that said that women in Jamiaca are basically taking over the country: [http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2006-03-19-jamaica_x.htm]

Basically, because most university graduates are women, and they are slowly taking over top positions in business, government, and politics.

Does this seem to be true? Are Jamaican women taking the reins away from the men? I am not complaining, just very curious!

Women in Jamaica are slowly taking over. The new Prime Minister is a woman and like someone else said, most univresity graduates are women.

Well I was there recently and I learned that the new Prime Minister is a woman, Portia Simpson-Miller. Obviously for her to have been elected she has to have the right credentials. She has made history as the first female Prime Minister in Jamaica.

From my travels in Jamaica, I discovered there are many women in management and qualified positions. This does not necessarily mean that women are taking over the country, but it shows the versatility and strength of the Jamaican woman. Many men in Jamaica still hold key positions but when a woman get into these position we should not look at it as a take over of any sort. We should look at them with admiration and respect to be able to overcome the many obstacles in a male-dominated world.

Men do not always make the best rulers, as is evident at home in the US currently. Let's hope we get enough votes in for election year 2008 and we can put Hillary as our first US female President. I am sure that like Portia Simpson she will excel.
