You'll need a yagi antenna to get that much distance. Should be good for up to about 3 miles. You can also get a parabolic dish (about 1/2 meter) and reach up to 22 miles at 1 megabit and about 11 miles at 11 megabit with 802.11b WAPs.

i asked a computer guru and he said that it is probably not possible, he then looked up the most popular wireless router that everyone uses and said it only reaches about 100 feet (.02 miles). There is a new router coming out in 2007 but it only will reach 160 feet (.03 miles). There is nothing you can attach to the router at this time to extend that. So I guess your answer is no. Sorry.

Slave an additional "router" (NAT device) as a "router" (router in technical sense) that powers another 1/2 mile, perhaps more to achieve the range you want, all of those boxes can do it, being subjugated to another box for a wireless network.

Don't think there is such a thing but, you can get a rangemax from dell. It's a external wifi boost. I ordered mine yesterday for 79.99 & free shipping.

I wish I knew, it's getting harder to connect to my neighbours as they are getting peed and securing them slowly and I'm running out of neighbours to connect to.
