I have a 1990 Yamaha XV250AC Virago

NEVER go by the rating on the tire like others suggested. That is the MAX pressure the tire can hold. The bike itself will tell you the correct psi.
If you look on the bike, there will be a data plate indicating GVMW, Tire pressure, etc.
I don't know where it is on a Virago. Typical places are on the frame behind the front forks or under the seat.
If you can't find it, and you don't have an owner's manual, call your local dealer and they should be able to tell you.

Jap bikes have a sticker on the left side of the swing arm. 28F-32R is good.
