l don't mean for this to be a perverted question but l must ask this and look for feedback. l know that with teenagers now showing off bras and underwear is in fashion. Ten years ago teenagers would not have been caught dead showing off their underwear attire. l am now seeing older women in the same catagory. l saw this woman in Chapters tonight walking around with a low cut backless top and her white bra straps and back clasp was fully visible. The irony was she had on a red top and the bra jumped out at you. l stood behind her in line and just looked at it and thought does she know, well of course she does. She was about 32 or 33. While sitting having a coffee in tim Hortons l see this lady sitting down with a low cut top on and thin shoulder straps. You could quite visibly see half her bra cups and shoulder straps showing and she had on a white top with a black bra. lt is like the ladies are proud to show off these items. She was in her late 20's.
Feedback please from ladies

I know we have a rule at work about not showing bra straps.

I usually don't let mine be shown unless it is the same color as my top.

I'm 37 and I have to say I find this trend appallingly unattractive.

There is something to be said for leaving a little to the imagination. I always thought that bras were there to support and help you look better IN clothes, not to be the main attraction.

A top that you can see a bra through (ie: white top with black bra) has always been considered the epitome of tasteless, and should remain so. Kind of like wearing white before May 2-4 or after labour day. It has always been considered inappropriate. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I have no idea why any woman in her right mind would wear a regular bra with a "backless" top...that's just retarded unless it was the EXACT same color and didn't stand out too much. As for letting bra straps show...most of the time it's not because they are flaunting it, it's just really hard trying to find a bra sometimes with thin enough straps and women with bigger boobs can't wear strapless bras because it doesn't give us enough support or hold us high enough. But I do agree...I've seen alot of TEENAGERS kind of flaunting their bras. If they're small enough and cute enough, it seems ok. Otherwise, it's an eye sore.

I actually think that look can be kind of cute on a younger girl if done sort of purposefully... like a pink rhinestone straps sticking out of a black tank. It has to look like it's really meant to be part of the outfit.

But I'm 36 and I take care to make sure my outerwear covers my underwear. I have convertable bras and bras with clear straps in order to make sure that the clothes show and the undies don't. And I think the show-off-your-thong thing is just completely uncalled for, no matter the age.

Oh gee- poor things. It must be summertime and its hot.

Showing bras is nothing new. You are just noticing it more. Actually Madonna, Flash dance were early eighties most gals wore their underwear on the outside. That was after the "toga parties and bikini skating" 1970's and before that was Liz Taylor, Sophia Loren and others decades a head of that.

Its just a trend, as is most things that are "NOT" stylish. They saddly think that "trashy" is sexy and guess WHO encourages it? Men, modern culture, TV and the warped morality of current religions.

We are warped into beliving the human body should be covered by shame from Adam and Eve days. Trust me, ask anyone about breastfeeding in the USA and they just freak out. Any where else in the world its not big thing at all.

If woman walked around top less and breast feeding all the time, we would be desensitized by it. Much like people joggin in the park.

I appear conservative in my "dress" because of my job and that is the only way to conform to my enviroment. I do feel that children 0-18 should be covered in an appropriate manner and given a childhood.

They are encouraged to be and almost forced to be Britney spears or whom ever, have you been shopping for little girl clothes- it like strip club clothes for preteensin better name retail stores, you have to really look hard to find anything that will cover their middle...

I encourage public/private school's policy for dress codes and hold the parents responsible for their kids! Kids are not your friends they are your responsibitiy and you are the boss.

You set the rules and you set the example! In all things in their life.

When was the last time you saw someone scream out
" OH me bad! I'm totally responsible for this entire situatin and I will take care of it" Thank you for calling me out on it. We follow the leader...and who is leading us?

oh sorry- I spell really bad and my check feature was to slow for my liking. I took the chance that my faults won't offend others.

I personally think its tacky.
And fashionably speaking if a womans bra is possibly going to show with a top she should wear one that matches in color so it is more descrete.
Those same women are the ones who cant figure out why guys they date treat them so poorly.
What ever happened to a little modesty?Leaving something for the imagination?
What I hate more is the "Thong " pulled up over the waist of pants
so that everyone can see it.Or a MOM dressing like that in front of her kids.
If only women knew what men say when they see that, Most I know consider the girl to be a s1ut.
You should have politely said " excuse me but your bra is showing" just to see her reaction.

I know what you mean, and it's quite disconcerting. I don't choose to show off my underwear.

What I think is pretty, however, are the new bra straps with decorations on them, that women can wear under tank tops, etc. I don't have any, and maybe some day, I'll be pursuaded to get them...

It's sad that our society encourages women to leave NOTHING to the imagination anymore. Gone are the days of modesty. Tragic.

Actually they did let straps show ten years ago. Wasn't as into showing the whole thing off though. Back in the old days the rule was if the tp is strap-less the bra should be too.

This is the 21st century, People like showing off their private areas, but, not to the point of being arrested. In Fact there is one city that allows women to go topless if they so desire and that is Columbus Ohio. Hundreds of women found out their boobs are subject to fast sunburns. I never realized that there were so many ugly boobs! OUCH! Had I known that when I was younger, I have no doubt that I would have become a monk! I would have join the Catholic church
and became a monk. NO DOUBT!

I'm a woman in my late twenities & I am tired of seeing everyone's underwear. Bra straps are not meant to be seen, That is why they're called under wear/garments. It's tacky to have it show and it's tacky to wear a dark bra under a light top. That's my opinion.
