Slime
Great fun for Halloween or anytime!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup white glue
6 Tbsp. water
Food coloring
1-4 tsp. Borax
1-4 Tbsp. water
Directions:
Mix the glue, 6 tablespoons water and food coloring until it is dissolved.
In a separate bowl, dissolve 1 teaspoon borax into 1 tablespoon water. Add to the glue solution. You will get a very thick clump of slime when the two mix. Pull the clump of slime out of the glue mixture and put it in a separate bowl.
Mix another batch of the borax solution and add to the remaining glue mixture. Repeat until all the glue mixture is used (about 3-4 times).
With clean hands, knead the slime to mix. This will take about 10 minutes and is not very difficult as the slime easily separates between your fingers.
If a looser, more slimy texture is desired knead in a bit more water. The more water you add, the slimier it gets.
The slime doesn't leave a residue and doesn't get stuck on anything.
Store in an airtight container. This can easily be doubled, tripled or quadrupled.

Part I - In one larger bowl mix:
2 c. glue (I used Elmers regular)
1 1/2c warm water
Part II - In another bowl mix:
1 1/3 c. warm water
4 tsp. Borax powder
NEXT - Pour Part II into Part I. Swish it around until it is a blubbery mess (not all water will be mixed in, that's okay). Lift it out and knead on a non-porous surface.
Hints:
wash hands before using
store in airtight container
may mold after 6 weeks (mine never lasts that long, though - the kids destroy it
For colored Goo: Take an old marker and remove the inner core. Squeeze the coloring into the bowl of glue and mix (before adding water). If you're using an older marker that is dried out - just soak it in a little bit of warm water, then try squeezing it. You can also use food coloring, but I find the marker thing more flexible, not to mention cheaper. (For my pink Goo, I used an old highlighter- see picture)

If I understand the question correctly, you're looking for a recipe to make homemade gooey stuff for kids to play with that you would pay $20 for in the store. Am I correct? I have a recipe for homemade Floam. I have NOT tried this myself, however, a close friend did and she said it DOES work!!! Here's the recipe:
Homemade Floam
2 tsp. borax (available in laundry aisle at your grocery store)
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup white glue (we used Elmer's)
1/4 cup water
food coloring (otherwise it will look like cottage cheese)
an air-tight plastic bag (for mixing and storage)
5/3 cups of polystyrene beads (we used 2/3 cups micro-beads and 1 cup bean bag filler) Floam™ is made with polystyrene (aka Styrofoam ™) beads ranging in size from about 1 mm to 1/8 inch in diameter. You can make an approximation of the beads at home by grating polystyrene cups, packing material etc., although we did not try this. We bought two different types of beads:
Micro-beads (about 1 mm in diameter), which we found at a Jo-Ann Fabrics &Crafts store. We had to call several stores before finding one that sold them. They can be ordered from Roseann's Dolls.
1/8" beads, sometimes called "milk bottle filler" or "bean bag filler", which we bought on eBay but you can also buy through Roseann's Dolls. Instructions
Dissolve 2 tsp. borax completely in 1/2 cup (4 oz.) water. Set aside.
In a separate bowl mix 1/4 cup (2 oz.) white glue and 1/4 cup (2 oz.) water. Optionally add food coloring.
Pour the glue solution into the air-tight bag. Then add 3 tbsp. (9 tsp.) of the borax/water solution to the glue solution. Do not mix them yet. You will have some borax/water solution left for another batch.
Add the polystyrene beads.
Seal bag and knead by hand until thoroughly mixed. Let stand about 15 minutes, and then knead a few minutes more. This should produce a hard clay well suited for sculpting; for a more malleable clay, use fewer beads and optionally less of the borax solution.
Notes:
The polystyrene beads will get everywhere.

Pour the glue into the jar.
Fill the empty glue bottle with water and stir it into the glue.
If desired, add a few drops of food coloring. Otherwise, the slime will be an opaque white.
In the bowl (not the glue mixture), mix one cup (240 ml) of water into the bowl and add 1 teaspoon (5ml) of borax powder.
Slowly stir the glue mixture into the bowl.
Place the slime that forms into your hands and knead until it feels dry. (Don't worry about the excess water remaining in the bowl.)
The more the slime is played with, the firmer and less sticky it will become.
Have fun!
Store your slime in a zip-lock in the fridge (otherwise it will develop mold).
Tips:
Use white glue, such as Elmer's brand. Most 'school glues' do not have the correct composition.
Don't eat the slime - it isn't especially toxic, but not good for you either!
Should clean up easily. Remove dried slime after soaking with water.
What You Need:
Borax powder
Water (distilled best)
4 ounce (120 ml) glue
Teaspoon (or metric)
Bowl - 2 quart (2 L)
Big jar or measuring cup
Food coloring (optional)
Measuring Cup
