Go to the Cobra Bar in Cairo. The drinks are reasonable and the Egyptian music is terrific. It's open until 4AM.
Have fun!

ok 5 hours won't help. 7 hours will do. enable me clarify. the suitable cairo factors of interest is the pyramids, museum, khan el khalili, castle. the airport is in the severe eastern component of cairo and the pyramids is in the severe western component of cairo. so if u % to ascertain the pyramids in the frenzy hour (cairo is 24/7 crowded with site visitors, have confidence me!!) so u will take a minimum of two.5 hours. what i advise is to bypass to Khan Khalili and castle, that's a million/2 way with the aid of. it is going to take u from the airport around 40 5 min to a million.15 min in accordance to site visitors ( you will use a protracted on the instant highway no rights or lefts its called "salah salem" different than beffore the azhar tunnel u will turn top if u;re heading in direction of khan khalili first) my reccommendation is bypass to khan khalili then castle and that they are very on the threshold of one yet another. 10 min distance. the castle's admission tickcet is maximum value-efficient and sitting in any of khan khalili's espresso properties isnt expensive the two. whilst r u coming to egypt?

We had a pretty fabulous time, you should definitely go if you get a chance. We were in Cairo, but also did a 1-day trip to Alexandria then also drove out to Port Suez and an old military base across the Suez Canal. We were supposed to go on a 3-day Nile cruise, but decided against it because there was so much to see in Cairo alone.

We stayed at the Cairo Sheraton in Egypt and it was pretty good (found a cool rate on expedia.com). In Egypt, you can't go lower than 4 star because there are some really dodgy hotels. Here's info on Cairo (can also forward our tour guide's contact details once i find it):

At the Airport in Cairo
Cairo Airport Shuttle Company (ask for Ashraf) when u clear baggage claim and enter the arrivals hall. A trip to the Cairo Sheraton will cost 60 Egyptian pounds plus 6 Egyptian pounds tax = 66EP. This is NOT per person, its for the van and driver so its really cheap (you will find that transport is very cheap when u explore Cairo ). It was through Ashraf that we ended up with our tour guide, Emad from Flamingo Tours.

At the Cairo Sheraton
Food:
If breakfast isnt included in you room rate, youll be advised to have breakfast at either Tea Garden or Arrous El Nile (restaurants within the hotel) these buffet breakfasts are overpriced so its better and cheaper to grab coffee and pastries at Café Complet (another restaurant in the hotel) on the ground floor of the Nefertiti Tower (Heshaam is pretty friendly he takes the evening shift though so youll probably meet Mohammed/Ahmed in the mornings). The food at the Al Adin restaurant is overpriced and you get tiny portions. Food at La Mamma isnt bad, but youd probably enjoy take-out more. Virgin cocktails at the Oasis lounge are pretty good and so is the live entertainment.

Laundry:
Room service laundry is overpriced. There is another laundry service at the ground floor entrance in the Nefertiti Tower (at the entrance where Café Complet is). They do the hotel laundry anyway, but the prices are a third of what room service will charge.

Minibar:
Dont bother with the minibar - a 500ml bottle of water costs 6EP and a can of soda will cost the same. If you walk down the road, on the way to the Four Seasons First Mall, theres a side road with two small shops selling drinks, chips, etc. A 1.5 litre bottle of water over there will cost you 2EP and a can of soda will cost 1.75EP. These shops are one of the few places that will sell Mountain Dew and Crème Soda funnily enough - very few places in Egypt have heard of Mountain Dew and Crème Soda (unfortunately, the crème soda just aint the same as it is in South Africa, it tastes very vanilla). There are also more little shops close to McDonalds or Noura Bazaar with the same prices.

Concierge:
Very helpful, but if we wanted to tour Cairo then they wouldve directed us to the travel agency within the hotel where the tours were very expensive do NOT use the travel agency.

Beauty salon:
Dont bother going there overpriced and extremely poor quality of service.

Restaurants and shops
Four Seasons First Mall:
It is down the road from the Sheraton, about 10-15 minutes walking distance (a taxi there will cost 10EP). You will be able to find shops selling genuine Nike shoes and clothing, Guess accessories and high-end watches at Time Trade at this mall (most other malls have a lot of fake products).

McDonalds:
Ask the doorman at the ground floor entrance of the Nefertiti Tower (outside café complet) to direct you to McDonalds, its on the same road as the Faisal Islamic Bank of Cairo (back road, not the front one) and its a 10-15 minute walk.

Noura bazaar:
Its on the same road as the Faisal Islamic Bank of Cairo (front road, not the back one) and its a 5-10 minute walk. This shop sells perfumes and papyrus at reasonable prices, but the guy there tends to be a bit pushy.

KFC and Pizza Hut:
Steps away from the Four Seasons First Mall. Theres also another Pizza Hut near the McDonalds.

Radioshack:
Youll pass this electronics shops while walking to the Four Seasons First Mall. Prices arent too bad although I never actually bought anything there.

Other shopping centres
Youll have to take a taxi to Arkadia Mall, Ramses Hilton and Khan el Khalili.

Touring Cairo
When we were there, Emad put together an itinerary for us. We had a lot of time so saw quite a bit (most people dont even know about the Pharoanic Village ). After the trip to Alexandria , we parted ways with Emad and then the transport manager at the main entrance of the Cairo Sheraton ( Cleopatra Tower ) arranged for us to see Coptic Cairo, Port Suez and Tablet El Shagara.

Day 1 (Emad) Saqqara, Memphis , Giza (Pyramids and Sphinx). In between, he took us to a papyrus shop and a perfume shop.

Day 2 (Emad) Egyptian Museum, Islamic Cairo and Khan El Khalili (bazaar) during the day then the Pyramids Sound and Light Show in the evening. Islamic Cairo: Mohammed Ali Mosque at Citadel, Sultan Hussein Mosque and Rifai Mosque, Imam Shafi Mosque, Al Azhar Mosque, El Hussein Mosque (the Prophet Muhammed 's (peace be upon him) grandson).

Day 3 (Emad) Pharoanic Village during the day, Nile cruise in the evening

Day 4 (Emad) A day trip to Alexandria : Greco-Roman museum, Danial mosque (brother of one of the Muslim prophets), Roman amphitheatre, Amud el sawari (Pompeis Pillar) and then the catacombs. Have lunch then go on the English tour at the Alexandrina Bibliotheca and end off with a trip to Montazah Palace Gardens .

Day 5 (arranged via transport manager at hotel main entrance) Tour Coptic Cairo (ask for Yasser when you get there, if possible). Afterwards, make sure you see the church, synagogue and mosque which are close to eachother.

Day 6 (arranged via transport manager at hotel main entrance) Go to Tablet El Shagara (old military base across the Suez Canal, past Ismailia ) then go to Port Suez
