Check for user ratings by your local area. For the most part, Verizon is rated best across the US. Coverage varies, depending on the area. My daughter lives near Merced, CA and has Cingular. She gets many dropped calls daily. I have Sprint (Nextel) and live in San Jose, CA. I have never had a dropped call.

I think they both suck. My hubby has Nextel for work and their coverage is limited and sporadic at best, network is down and circuits busy all the time. I have had Sprint and ATT/Cingular with tons of dropped calls and incorrect billing nearly every month. I have T mobile now and I love it...no problems at all in 15 months of service.

Sprint is awful. It was cheaper for my girl to switch to Cingular AND pay the disconnection charge from Sprint. Cingular is the only one to rollover your minutes. You'll get horror stories from any company, but I found Cingular to have the best deals. T-Mobile came close, but no rollover minutes. Sprint wants you to pay to pay your bill, and to sign a new contract when you change something. Cingular will let you change your plan whenever you want.

I have Nextel and I hate it. I know people who have Cingular and they love it.

Definately go with Sprint, they have the best network and the best prices. Caution, stay away from Cingular!
