I do, I just can't help it. It's comical how mean some people are. They don't know you, they know nothing about you, and just verbally attack you. Why?

Its a little different here in Ireland, all is humour. The insults of "Jaysus your mother's a doorful of a woman" or "well, i dont know about the rest of the lads but i'd get up on the crack of Dawn, of i mean your sister" are all well intentioned joking. We have to subtly insert poinson meaning into our insults and usually only Irish can pick up on them. Thats why foreigners see us absolutely insulting one another and laughing our heads off (these are called slagging matches) and then one will say something in a certain way about something a tiny bit different and blows will follow. Its a strange culture here. Here we ALL laugh at one another. Example;
My first day of work my boss and i were organising something. I let her at her work and i went to mine. When she had finished i went over to her work and said (bear in mind i've only met her 2 hours and she is my boss)
"ah feck sake, your granny could do better"
with a smirk she says "my granny's dead"
With a beaming smile i say "EXACTLY!"
And help her finish the work.
So, we laugh at all insults. Its the Irish's greatest defence, we make insultng an entertainment to the point were its a comedy art.
Our only problem now is outsiders not getting this and thinking we're barbaric with no manners.

I think I do it and have done it many times in the past. Laughing is a protective mechanism to keep myself from being mean back. What is funny now is that I think of mean things that have been said to me over the past years and I get a good laugh over that even more than when it was said at the time. It is not something I dwell on, just remember sometimes.

Especially if they verbally attack you with broken English. That's the best! They can't even speak properly, but they feel they're superior to you! Awesome!

Yes. They remind me of Donald Duck when he is angry. When he is fighting a fly or something. Or even better when he is trying to dress up and is fighting with his shirt. Making a great fuss for nothing. I don't laugh in defence it really is funny.

Yes. Because they are acting funny--in a pitiful and sad way.
Laughter, also as a subconscious reaction to disbelief in the presented scenario.

Hi Cora-

Depends on which context your refering to, if its online then well, I always get under their skin, find that one thing about them that pisses them off even more, and go with it..

In everyday real life, I have never had anyone verbally assult me, probably because of the fear of getting laid out, butttttttttttttttttttt,
if it did happen, I would probably start twiching and act crazy..

I have to help it...if I laughed at superiors who were *mean* to me at work, I would be terminated...

The best remedy is to not respond. Just move on and surround yourself with friendly smiling faces :-)

Yes, because you can't stoop to their level...and they are openly displaying their ignorance and lack of character...which is quite laughable when you stop to think about it. There is never an excuse to be deliberately mean to someone...and it is compounded by the fact they don't know you. [Was someone mean to you? Who were they? Let me at 'em!]
