Yugoslavia was socialist country, lead mostly by the communist party. Also Yugoslavia had a strong military...it had to be distroyed in order to have expension of the American and EU influence.

Yugoslavia has been divided even without the intervention of Europeans and Americans because of ethnic differences and political bickerings. Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia fragmented into different states due to differences in culture and each people wanted to have self government. These nations cannot be united under one flag causing the abolition of Yugoslavia.

Yugoslavia was an artificial construct held together by Tito, a strongman dictator. When he died the country fell apart because of ethnic, cultural and religious differences. This had nothing to do with the USA or the EU.
