I have hundreds of HTML files with a ".wp2" extension. I cannot open them in Dreamweaver ("design" view) unless I first add .html to the end of the file name (ie filename.wp2.html) ... but that of course means I have to remove the .html before uploading to the server or my links will break.

I want to be able to tell dreamweaver to ignore the extension and just open the darn things. (note: I CAN open them in the "code" view, but just not the design view) Any advice?

P.S. I'm using Dreamweaver 8 for Mac OSX if it makes a difference.

Clarification: "wp2" is just a fancy custom extension that the developer who made the site invented. For reference, here is an example page: http://www.paperworks.biz/accessories/skeleton_leaves-family.wp2

Hypertext Preprocessor is what's noted as a server-side scripting language. What this suggests is that the cyber web website developer has written his website in the programming language Hypertext Preprocessor, so he can take earnings of programming constructs to generate dynamic web page content cloth, do calculations, artwork at the same time with databases and so on. Then once you request a web page from his website, the cyber web server has processed the Hypertext Preprocessor script and despatched you the output from it (oftentimes a HTML web page). because it really is been processed previously it really is despatched to you, what you've is the HTML (and likely CSS and JavaScript) output from the Hypertext Preprocessor script, no longer the Hypertext Preprocessor code itself, which isn't plausible for you to acquire without asking the region developer to e-mail it to you. it quite is sturdy from the region developer's attitude, because Hypertext Preprocessor information regularly prepare innovations about the cyber web server, its folder structure, contain database passwords and so on which may also help to skill hackers. in case you do not care about the dynamic nature in the back of the pages and easily want the output, then it truly is no longer an issue, you may edit the files in Frontpage or Dreamweaver in case you want. you would possibly want to even use a real cyber web website progression device. This all assumes, of direction, that you do not concepts the moral and felony ramifications of stealing somebody else's artwork. on the different hand, if i have made incorrect accusations, and also you easily do have the unique Hypertext Preprocessor source information because you're taking up progression of the cyber web website for someone else, then I apologise. the appropriate accusation to make therefore might want to be that you have not any company attempting to enhance a cyber web website once you obviously do not comprehend what you're doing (Frontpage says all of it fairly), and that you've grossly misrepresented your skills to some unfavourable sap.
