My car heats up quicker than normal. The temperature gauge
goes past the mid-way mark. Even on short trips. What do I need
to have looked at. My car caught afire and the problem appeared
to have come from somewhere in or around the battery. According to the mechanic the cooling fan relay switch was not hooked up correctly. But now after it has been repaired it is still heating up. Is this normal for this model and or year.

A puddle shouldn"t have something to do with it knocking except the puddle became into so massive that the water have been given interior the engine, and each and all the years, that I even have been making use of and hit some humungus puddles by no ability had that take place. the 1st element that i'd attempt is draining the oil and put in new oil, force it for awhile and notice if the noise is going away.

Check for a blown head gasket or cracked head. Sometimes the thermostat will stick, but if you have a 2.4 engine you should do a cylinder leak test.

you probably need a new thermostat, that would cause the car to heat up really fast. If it is broken which it most likely is or is going to be, I'd say replace it before you blow a head gasket.

if the fans are operating properly, your radiator may be restricted.
