In a way I can respect that. I don't agree with his policies and his administration's performance is attrocious. I hate it when politicians change positions with the polls as they can be swayed and are usually a small sample size. That said, there are cases when one should listen to the polls-- that is, should rethink one's position in light of new news or circumstances. In the case of Iraq war polls- that's what's happening.
Problem recently and on Iraq is that initially tons of naive people where all gun-ho for the war. Now that they see the real challenges and idiocy, they are now against it.

The President's job is to guide and check congress. The office is not as tied into the polls as are the representatives or the senators. If we have issues to raise it would be with congress, the challenge now is to make the congress listen to the people. Tough job theses days.

polls are crap and contrary to liberal beliefs "President Bush" is smart enough to know this
the only real POLL that means a thing is election day
you may be confused after the Clinton years where you saw a president that changed his policies just a little more often than he changed his girlfriends
what you call Blatantly announce that he doesn't care what people think I call STANDING BEHIND HIS MORALS AND VALUES the ones that got him elected as our president
oh ya have a NICE DAY

That's why his a s s does not belong in the oval office. We need a President who knows who he works for. That's the problem he and dick cheney think they know whats best for us. But oh how they are wrong. As they will see in the next election. We have been bamboozled enough! They took advantage of our fears after 9/11.
But we're gradually getting over the shock and this presidential picture is unraveling in large pieces, bit by bit

Perhaps he doesn't follow polls because the results can be skewed to show the answers that the poll takers want it to show. Therefore, they are not accurate and are basically useless except for those who are taking the poll to use for whatever reason they took the poll in the first place. There are other ways that presidents can find out what the people think.

The President has access to information that most of us do not. We elect presidents with the expectation that they will use their own best judgment to LEAD the nation, not just follow the opinion polls.

Considering polls aren't a exact representation of the country. That would be like me considering evolution based on the facts I have been given in school. There are gaping holes in the polls in the same respect. You can take any data you want and skew it until it fits your agenda. If you really want him to do his job then let him use the most accrate representation which would be what...right...he was elected TWICE!

stable question. My father grow to be a strict muslim and my mom an atheist. My father never instilled his faith on me fortuitously. I grew as much as appreciate everyones suited to coach their faith despite which would be, yet to tension ones ideals on yet another - that's the project I fairly have. it fairly is not any longer the fault of God (whichever shape he would take) it fairly is the interpretations and warping of religious books to greater healthful ones very own agendas that reason issues. So I stick to my very own course with an open suggestions ;)

He can make a policy decision (on a certain limit) in consultation with his cabinet staff to check the pro's and con's of the draft. If it is approved by majority of his cabinet, he can submit the resolution to the Senate for furtther review, or to submit it to the general public in terms of polls, if somehow required. No one is aboved the law, not even the president. There are set of rules to follow. These rules applies to all.

So if the poll asked "Do you think the federal government should give you $5000 on your birthday as a nice present?" that the president should say, "Great! Let's implement that right away." just because 1000 morons called by CNN say SURE!???
