I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year. I have an abnormal cycle, usually 30-42 days. I usually spot for a day or two before my cycle starts. I started spotting about 6 days ago which was day 38 of my cycle. I took a test this morning and it was negative. I thought you test positive after two or three days after implantation so I assumed I was not pregnant. I don't know what to think. My doctor couldn't get me an appointment for another 3 weeks. I've been tired and nausous. I'm also afraid it can be early menopause but I'm only 30. Does anyone have any advise or a similar experience? How long did it take to test positive after implantation? Your help would be appreciated!

Implantation happens 6-12 days after ovulation. Once implantation has taken place it takes about 4 days for hcg to build up enough and be excreeted into your urine--so the earliest a test would be positive is about 10 days past ovulation. Spotting before your period starts can be due to many things some of which are, endometriosis, thyroid dysfunction, pituitary dysfuction, pcos, poor diet, improper weight, etc.
