i replaced a headgaskets amd distributer and now it doesnt want to idle but runs fine when the rpms are up and how tight should the rockers be

check your distributor cap and check your timing with a timing light the rockers check wit CUSTOM BOOK ON YOUR ENGINE TYPE AND SIZE

Could be timing, fuel mixture or just a non-firing plug.

could be alot make shure you arent sucking in any air from any gaskits by carb if there is one. timing might be off. did you set it when you put the new distributer in?

sounds like the fuel mixture is not right

difficult to say, could be something as simple as your timing though, and that's the first thing i'd probably check.
