when making a website, how do you add different subcategories on your home page that you can click on? for example, on most website, at the top there is a title ofthe site, and usually on the left hand side there are different categories you can click on. Please tell me what these things are called, and if you know how to add them on to a website, please tell EXACT step by step instructions on how to do it. Who ever does this WILL get 10 points...

Hard question to answer because there's so many possibilities.

The bit with the title is usually just called the header or page header and the part with the links you click on is called the menu.

A menu in it's simplest form will be a list of text links within a table. Unfortunatley the exact instructions for even a simple menu would be quite long.

Basically you need to know how to create and use tables and how to create links.

If you know a little about website design you could use one of the many free menus that are available and modify it to suit your page.

Dynamic Drive is an excellent resource for all sorts of fancy things you can put on a webpage including a whole load of different menus - drop down menus, ones that slide on and off the page etc. Have a look at the menus on this page... http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/index.html , you should find that they come with instructions on how to configure them as well.
