It certainly has monetary value over a lifetime. It teaches you about yourself, how to think, study, how to become a lifelong learner, which is essential in today's changing world.

It is a maturing experience, teaches you to become a better problem solver. A college education can lead to a different life perspective and a different view of the world. It leads to personal growth, satisfaction, and experience and a deeper understanding of oneself and others.

It probably means you will work with your brain rather than do physical labor work. It can be your stepping stone to a more comfortable lifestyle. An education is something no one can take away from you. A college education can open doors for you that would otherwise be closed.

I hope these thoughts help. Best of luck with it.

Okay, well I can help you structure it, but you'll have to think of your own 'values.' You should begin with a thesis statement, which relates your argument about the benefits of a college education. Then, the next three sentences can be the THREE VALUES YOU CHOOSE. One sentence for each value.

Then, have one body paragraph detailing each value. Why did you pick it? Do experts agree with you? Do people who have gone to college agree with you? In other words, why did you pick these values? How can a person benefit from a college education?

Then, your conclusion can restate your thesis and main points. Then, sum up the final sentence with a good quote (something that deals with your topic), or maybe a call to action for the reader ("Therefore, we should all encourage today's youth to ... ") or whatever.

WARNING: This is the most basic format for writing an essay, and I don't know what your assignment really asked you to do ... but maybe this is a start ...

I just read another person's response, and that person gave you several good values to pick from. If you structure it the way I suggested, using three or four of the values stated by that very generous Yahoo user, then you should have a good essay

But I have to say, if you yourself really want to go to college, you should learn to answer your own questions ... don't be lazy

We shouldn't write the paper for you, but here's some help:

1) A head start on a career--my fiance didn't graduate from college. He spent 10/12 months unemployed because it is HARD to get good pay with no degree.

2) You experience--you get to learn about life on your own without having to foot the bills. You learn the social aspects as well as the hardships of partying all night.

3) You meet new and interesting people from around the world--new cultures + new experiences + new people = new oppurtunities

4) Studying abroad--need I say more?

5) It's your chance to act your age. If you want to party, no one is going to stop you. If you want to study, no one is going to pressure you.

6) Fun times--you meet people and experience new things.

7) You learn how to fail--just because you don't finish in the degree you first started in doesn't mean you are going to fail in the world. Failing at the subject you once loved is tough, but it's a tough love.

8) You learn what you really love--so you love to write and only could write for the newspaper so you went into journalism? Here's the chance to find different areas to examine and realize that journalism really isn't for you.

It depends on how you define the word value. If you use higher income get figures from Dictionary of Occupational Hand Book or Occupational Quarterly. If you use Life expediency you might use figures from census. Seen figures on job satisfaction but can't remember were they were,
