Last week someone broke my quarter-window to my toyota pre-runner. They stole what was in the back of the truck, which was pretty much nothing. I don't use my truck so it sits parked on the street- So I have no insurance on it. Just last night someone tryed jamming something into the key ignition. They broke the cover off- but couldn't steal it. I can put the key in the hole and turn it to a certain point- but thiers a small latch that is blocking it from turning over. I can push the latch up but when I turn the key the latch seems impossible to move- I need to take it to my local dealer to get it fixed- But I need to get it started myself. Can anyone help me pls?

I am sorry to say... the thieves damaged the ignition cylinder and it will require replacement. Unless you want to finish their job... pop-out the lock cylinder... then you could start the vehicle with a screw driver. Legally, I can not tell you how to do this... I recommend calling a lock smith or a tow truck.

Good luck with repairs

you could both hammer the major in, no matter if it really is tender metallic... yet you want to grant it a good whack with out breaking the major or the element you attempt to unscrew - or you could chisel/router a higher sized allen key hollow... it actual relies upon how a lot damage you could do to the skinny you attempt to take out. some human beings would also get some very good epoxy resin and fix a device in there, if the peice you attempt to get out is disposable and the device you employ is likewise disposable. Or, you could drill and tap the middle to get a fix contained in the article you attempt to get rid of. Like I say, this is all all the way down to how a lot damage you could do and no matter if you'll would ought to apply the piece back or in case you'll get a replace. Why the downvotes you nutcases? you do not even understand what this individual is making an attempt to extract!!

I'm not an expert with Toyotas, but that may be an anti-theft feature so that if you don't use the key, it won't start. It will probably need to be towed to a place where it can be serviced.

Parked on the street with no insurance. That means the plates are illegal and the registration is illegal. Don't worry the town will junk it soon.
