Is he gaining weight? Having enough wet diapers? If he's gaining well, I think it's ok to let him sleep as long as he likes provided you know he's getting enough to eat during the day. Otherwise, definately wake the baby at least every 4-5 hours for a feeding. It is not normal for a baby so young to sleep so long.

I just wanted to add that you can't really expect him to stay on this same sleep schedual forever. Growth spurts, teething, milestones... Many babies who start out as "good sleepers" will start waking up again later. So for now so long as he's still gaining well and making enough wet diapers, enjoy your sleep; it may be short-lived.

Let him sleep. Babies need about 12 - 14 hours of sleep per night.

The early teaching that an early bird catches the worm is now proven wrong. The brain needs to sleep and that is why we feel tired. But the recent researches which shows that children whom have more sleep even when they are in their primary school will perform better than average.

Lucky You. Let him sleep. Babies need this sleep as they are growing. My son was awake every 3 hours for feeding until he was 18 months old.
Babies and all children should be sleeping 8 - 10 hours a night for optimum growth.

The rule of thumb is to never wake a sleeping baby. That said, If I were you I would ask your doctor. Our pediatrician thought our son lost too much weight the first week after birth and had us wake him every three hours for a bottle. After a month, the baby caught up and the doctor said to let him sleep.

Lucky you!...It is perfectly normal for a baby that age to sleep long hours. Babies have their own demand on food. When they are hungry, they cry. When they are wet, they cry. Usually, they sleep all day hours, and then keep the mothers awake all night hours. If your is sleeping through night hours, both can rest enough. Don't worry.

Be grateful and let him sleep. My daughter weighed 5lbs 6oz at full term, and she's never slept through the night.

If he's eating, going through diapers and growing, he'll do what his body needs and sleep as much as he needs.

I'd let him sleep. He'll wake when he's ready.

Let them sleep. Even at that age and weight they won't allow themselves to starve darlin. If he is hungry or distressed he will wake and let you know.
Take it as a compliment that you have a happy, healthy and very contented baby and enjoy the peace while it lasts. You are doing an excellent job.

Good luck.

I know at the hospital they say to wake up baby every few hours for feeding times. But my mother in-law always told me that is a sin to wake up a sleeping baby.(she had eleven!!!)

Baby's know when they are hungry and they will certainly let you know. As soon as your baby wakes cuddle, change diaper and offer a bottle.

I got to tell you, your lucky to have a baby that sleeps that long at night mine was up every 3 hours on her own.

Don't worry you'll get the hang of it. My first child made me very nervous but as soon as you calm down so will the baby.
