I am thinking of purchasing the Sims 2, but have found a better deal on the Sims 2: Holiday Edition. From the description, it sounds like it includes the Sims 2 basic program. Is this the case? Or do I have to buy the Sims 2 first?

There are two versions of the Holiday packages. One comes with the Sims 2 game and is called Holiday Edition, the other is a small add on pack called a Holiday Party Pack.
It should say: ****INCLUDES***** the Sims 2
It should contain 4 CDs (unless it's the DVD version)
One of the problems was that they released a small Party Pack CD pack that just had holiday stuff on it. Some people bought that one and later realized they needed to get the game too. Others got the whole thing (Holiday Edition) and ended up having to reinstall their game!
If you get these Holiday versions, you do get MORE! You get some extra things such as interaction with Santa Claus that didn't come with the free downloads (free downloads were given away over the holidays but just included holiday objects)
Glad to see you found a great deal! Just besure it INCLUDES the Sims 2! The plain holiday pack will only come with one CD since it doesn't have the game installed.

Nope, the Holiday Edition is the exact same game, but with a few extra Holiday themed items (like a Christmas tree and some Hanukah stuff, as well, I think). Those extra objects were offered as a download from the official Sims 2 website around the holiday season.

There is an edition with just the Holiday stuff and there is one with the Sims 2 PLUS the Holiday stuff. Just make sure yours is both!!

yes, the basic programes of sims 2 are the sims 2 or the sims 2 holiday edition!

at the begining its good but at the end its bad so buy the holiday edition
