My T-Mobile service frequently drops calls, and Sprint has a good deal currently on new phones for a Family Plan. If somebody currently is using Sprint, I'd appreciate a review of the service and reception, particularly in the Dallas area ( I live to the northwest of Dallas).
My husband travels to the UK and to Las Vegas and occasionally to other parts of the world and the U.S. Does Sprint have good national and international coverage? Any info on their customer service and phones? I'm considering the Sprint PCS Vision Ready Link Samsung A640 Phone with Bluetooth. Thanks for any information.

Thanks for all the info, particularly on international calls; I really appreciate it. That alone may be enough to keep us with T-Mobile, but I'll look into the Amp'd service, too.

I've heard that Skype will be available on Sony PSPs in September, and I've thought of getting my husband one for travel (smaller and more convenient than a laptop), since Skype works so well for me to call his hotel from my PC now. Any ideas on that?

My dad was with Sprint for about 4 years on the same phone since he only needed a cell phone to call before he gets home from work or just for occasional long chats, and for emergency. Four years on the same phone is a pretty long time, of course the phone started to have some normal wear and tear, and about a few months ago the screen started to quit. There were horizonal lines on the screen and it was almost impossible to see the first half of the screen. So he went into a sprint store and asked the sales rep to take a look, they gave him a new battery but the screen still wasn't working. He was busy that day so he thought he'd deal with it and go again tomorrow. He went the next day and it was a different sales rep, and competely useless. He tried with online sales reps but that didn't work out either. He either had to buy a new phone, or had to be signed up for a lot other features to be able to get a discount to buy a new phone. A lot of people I know has T-mobile and they get a new phone every few months without a complicated process.

I'll actually have to differ, I have Sprint and the service has been great. Yeah, their customer service sucked, but they are currently working on it. I've also noticed that if you email their E-Care customer service, they help you out way better than when you call. Their phone selection does need to be worked on, but by the end of this year they should be filling in the niche with a lot of new phones, especially bringing out a lot of Motorola phones. My brother had T-Mobile here in Houston, and always had dropped calls, and I always had problems trying to connect to him. He's now with Sprint.

Only get your answers from others in the Dallas area. Phone company service is highly dependent on where you live. I've had Sprint for many years and think its the best value and certainly clearest cutting edge service. GSM (like T-Mobile) carriers do not roam as well as CDMA (like Sprint) phones in the U.S. as they do not have full coverage. Don't worry about getting a phone that you can use overseas--you are better buying an unlocked GSM phone and buying a local prepaid sim card. It's expensive to use your own phone number overseas (like $2 per minute!) I have the Sprint phone that also works overseas in GSM BTW (but I use the local sim cards in it, cause it is unlocked.

They are starting to develop SIM cards for CDMA phones too and eventually it is possible that one phone could be used on different technologies (CDMA, GSM, IDEN, etc.) BTW--all GSM are switching to w-CDMA soon BTW since GSM is an older, limited technology. Also GSM phones give off radiation the entire time you are connected--CDMA phones only give off radiation when you talk.

The SAMSUNG phone you listed is a very good one.

Just moved from McKinney, Tx and hubby had Sprint and hated it! Dropped calls, poor customer service and his phone was with a corporate plan! He travels like your hubby and is trying to convince his company to switch carriers. He can't talk on his phone at home in the house. He has to go outside in the yard. (Had to do this in Texas too.) He spends many hours just driving around so he can get service. (In Texas too.) I don't have any experience with T-Mobile but don't like Verizon (4 years). I now have Cingular and am very happy with phone, service, customer service, etc. Hope this helps. Good luck!

i agree with Asia J. Ive had sprint for about 3 Years and threre customers service is horrible. Once, they gave free internet for a month and they said to cancel it before the month was over or else I would automtically be subscribed to it. So i cancelled it before the 30 days were over and I got slammed with a fee anyway for cancelling a free trial before it ended, but if had had waited for it to end, i still would have had to pay. Other than that, I have had 1 or 2 arguements with the reps and the only time i got a nice one was when I called to cancel my service. There service is good though, i nver had any dropped calls or anything. If you are traveling overseas, i would recomend t-mobile. If you want to see what kind of service they have in your area, go to

and for sprint, go to

well i believe that everybody has their own thoughts and views on sprint but personally i dealt with for almost 3 yrs and from the very beginning they had terrible customer service i mean i thought that maybe it was just the rep that i was talki9ng too but every other day i was calling them because my phone would be shut off even though i had just paid my bill and then some...they would add things to my package that i never asked for(vision pack and some live tv ****)i would always have to call them to take it off and the next month it would be back on...they would charge me for roaming when i had it for free....and the reps are horrile they are all rude...every last one of them will try to argue with you and tell you your wrong....they hang up the phone when you ask for a sup or they transfer you back and forth between people...i swear the entire time i was with sprint i had maybe 2 good reps and 1 actually correct bill that i didn't have to argue about...

i have a sprint pcs vision phone i got the really skinny one with bluetooth. i think its nice i mean i haven't had it for even 2 days but sure... my aunt has sprint and she likes it she isn't complaining at all. they do have good plans and deals and thats why i added my number with the family plan for 10$ more a month so its really good for that. and theyre pretty good with service she doesn't drop calls ... idk y people hate sprint so much my aunt likes it alot... i used to have a tracfone and its pay as you go and honestly that phone was AWESOMe... its not fancy shmancy i mean i got a cute litle flip phone .. but they never dropped calls ever and it tells you the amount of minutes you have left on the screen... its really good for kids and my mom has one too so yeah its good. and you can buy more minutes its pretty cheap its like they always have deals like if you buy a year of service which comes with a bunch of minutes theyll throw in 200 free. and you can add minutes with the card any time you want its really nice... so i would definitly recomend loooking into tracfones. or if your husband travels alot try to get the ampd phone its like unlimited minutes anywhere in the world i think for 100$ a month.. thats alot but its completely unlimited. so when you think abnout it... its pretty nice loll.. DEF look into tracfones.
