yes, the real sun is better for you. Whenever you are wondering ABOUT SOMETHING being good or bad for you, natural usually wins out over "artificial"

Sunbeds are bad for your skin and so is the sun. Both emit UV rays (UVB and UVA), which penetrate into the skin and damages collagen and elastin. This leads to premature aging of the skin. If you ever notice, check out the less exposed parts of your body, such as your stomach or the inner of your arms and then check out your facial skin. You'll see a difference, whether it be slight or dramatic depending on your natural skin tone (how much melanin you have) and lifestyle (whether you eat healthy and wear sunscreen/sunblock everyday). Your facial skin will not be as "youthful" as the less exposed areas.

As for overall health, the sun's rays help with Vitamin D in the body, which is good for the bones but you could easily replace that with a meal of seafood a day or other food types rich in Vitamin D.

Yes, yes and did I say yes? It is incredibly damaging to your skin in the long term as it breaks down your collagen structures leaving you with inelastic, prematurely aged skin. It also greatly increases your risk of skin cancer, which might not show up for 20-30 years. There is also the possibility that using sunbeds can lower your immune system. I would avoid them at all costs...use fake tan instead. Take care : )

They aren't bad if you don't mind skin cancer and tons of wrinkles when you get a little older. But you can always get a face lift. The general obsession of being tan shared by many people is generally unhealthy for everyone but the tanning salon owner's bank accounts. No one cared about being tan until Coco Chanel showed up after vacation and had a tan. Then everyone wanted to be like her. Now everyone just wants to be tan just because that is the thing to do. Why bother with going to the tanning bed? I say if God wanted me to have dark skin he would have made me Mexican or something.

Yes you can catch skin cancer. Even if you are in the sun you can catch skin cancer.

Also too much expose to sunbeds and sun will make you look a lot older than you are because it is bad for your skin if you get too much of it. It is one thing to get a nice glow but too much expose is bad for both the way you look and can cause cancer.

Extremely bad for you!! And so is the natural sun!! Anyone who says different is lying. I work for a dermatologist and not only will sun cause your skin to age early and wrinkle quicker, but you can get skin cancer. Not just melanoma, the kind that can kill you, but basal cell carcinomas or squamous cell carcinomas, which come from too much sun exposure. They don't necessarily threaten your life like melanoma but they can grow very big and become extremely disfiguring. You will be glad when your older if you stay out of the sun now! :)

It is certainly bad for your skin, that goes almost without saying. As far as your general health I would say skin cancer--which you can get from tanning in a tanning bed--qualifies as bad.

theyre worse than the sun because they emit more UVB rays and those are the ones that damage your skin deeper down. but you will probably get wrinkles and skin cancer if you tan a lot in the sun or in tanning beds.
