Being a good winner, as well as a good loser, is part of what makes a person who they are. Some people are not built that way. As you get older, you will learn what it is about people that you like, and what you dislike. This is why friends we make in childhood rarely last the course; you outgrow their faults and look for somebody more in tune with your adult way of thinking.
You have learned a lesson about your friend. Whether this means you cannot be friends anymore or not, I don't know. Only you can answer that question. I would add this, though. When you're gambling, you have to take a different perspective on the money involved. That's why professionals have a 'bankroll', money they only use for wagering. It still hurts to lose some of it, but it's not the rent or anything.
The best way to deal with this is to tell your friend you're happy for him. Invite him back to the game. He will be over-confident and lose more to you next time than he won last time. (Assuming you're a solid, winning player.) But don't fall out with a REAL friend over money. There is always more money, but friends are rare indeed.
Read up on the game and get better. Then get even!

No i wouldn't even let that upset me at all. In the first place you lost the money so you have no one to blame but yourself and not him, he won fairly and he can spend HIS money anyway he wants. I deal and play poker all the time and i lose money to my friends and i hope that they either come back the next day to give me a chance to win it back or i hope they buy something nice with it. I think your more upset that you lost more than anything and that's OK because i hate losing a lot, it shows you are driven to win. It also sounds like your friend is rubbing it in just a little bit to much, he should not be rubbing it in like that and you should tell him that, no real friend teases others like that.

Sometime you lose, that's why they call it gambling. Next time, when you win, do the same thing. Buy a bunch of things, take his girlfriend out on a date, and see how he feels ;o)

Be the bigger man and leave it along. The way to get under his skin is to be him at him game. Win the card game next time and he will be pissed. You win some and you lose some that is cards.
