I'm trying to learn how to yodel (don't ask). It talks about "moving towards the natural break from my chest voice to my head voice". First of all, what is a chest voice and what is a head voice? How do you use them? How should it feel?

when youre singing with your chest voice you can usually feel a vibration in your chest. and as said before, usually comes with lower notes. when you sing in your head voice, its important to feel the note coming straight out of the top of your head.. you have to open your throat. you can feel the roof of your mouth way in the back move up, and that's your head voice. im guessing when you yodel you're switching in between, which is hard. if youre singing the scale and you notice your voice cracks a little on the same notes, thats you're natural break. its like a switch thats turning from chest to head. with lessons you can work on strengthening your voice so the break isn't as audible. i'm not exactly sure if when you yodel you want to hear the break or not.. i dont yodel all that much, but i hope you get the idea. good luck :)

Chest voice usually comes into play w/ lower notes and head voice is higher... as long as you have correct breath support from your diaphragm and you keep very open when you are singing, almost like a yawning sensation, you should do alright Oh, and if you ever feel like your throat is really stressing then you are doing it wrong ...
