Well I have a home daycare and I charge $70 a week for 3 days a week. It depends on if you or she is providing food for your baby. In my case, I provide food so that is a acceptable amount.

Have you tried sitting down with her and coming up with a resonable price? Usually for kids who are that age and are in a regular daycare non private daycare the going rate is between 150-250 dollars a week! So start from there..

I think you should ask her what she feels would be fair. You could run into a problem if you don't ask because she may feel that you're taking advantage of her if you don't pay what she's expecting. It's best to be up front with her. It just might be the case that she doesn't expect much at all and you'll end up spending less than you were planning, you never know till you ask. :)
Good luck!

I would find out what the going rate is at daycare centers around your area and then knock $25 to $30 off of the average. That seems to be what people in my area do. And keep in mind if your SIL isn't reporting the income to the IRS you can't claim it as a deduction on your taxes.

I've found that days care generally costs $20-25 a day. Since she's family, so might charge less. Ask her if she'd take $15 a day.

Your so lucky to have a family member to care for your child! I am blessed to have found a great home daycare my son goes to. I pay her 150 a week. she watches him 40 hours a week. She is great with him and he adores her and her daughter who helps her...I wish i could afford more to give her but I just can't right now...since she is family i would hope she wouldnt charge you more than 150 a week.

My daughter stays with my husband's aunt & we pay her $10.00 per day (that's for five hours per day)
Talk to your sister in law about it & see what she expects, and tell her what you can do.

don't pay her, enjoy the drama. It'll give you a reason to argue with your husband, thats what you women love to do anyway.
