What is it with the way the majority of this countries population thinks? Why are the majority sheep? How is it that millions of people go out and get drunk beyond belief at the weekend, smashing windows, fighting, littering, being abusive, getting arrested etc like animals and it is seen as clever and acceptable? Drugs on the otherhand are not accepted yet cause little to no public disorder. BY THIS I DO NOT MEAN HEROIN. I cannot understand the whole mentality behind drinking large amounts of alcohol at a massive cost to the taxpayer yet it is on the increase more and more. I personally think this is down to people being scared to have thier own opinions and see this as a way to release their built up anger and tension from living an unforfilling mundane life. To me it seems more and more common for people to live "just for the weekend" rather than actually 'doing' sometining with their lives. What do other people think?

Intolerance of intelligent people, propagated by negative television and newspaper propaganda.
Politicians and the leaders of big business also don't want us to think too much about what they're doing, because if we did, we'd look at their financial reports and answers at Question Time and think "Hang on, the numbers don't add up here. They're telling us fibs."
The Great and The Good DO, however, want us to be easily led, because that's the only way we can keep the likes of Blair, Cameron, Ming, etc. in power, instead of actually thinking about who we'd like to represent us on a local level and on a national level.
They REALLY don't want us to think, or to actually hold the reins of real power and choose how we'd like to run the country, because they know that there are people in Britain who really could run this nation better than they could. AND they'd be able to sort out the problems those currently in charge are causing.
This is why they've gone and stifled the education system, throttling it from kindergarten upwards, with paperwork, CRB red tape, pointless exams, dumbing down of educational standards, and the fostering of a culture which encourages children to conform to a single standard of below - IQ 100 mediocrity, under penalty of being singled out as being "swots" and penalised mercilessly by institutionalised bullying on an epidemic scale.
Think of it as like the Killing Fields in Cambodia, only without the mountains of polished skulls of those poor buggers who got a bullet in the head only because they happened to wear glasses. Here, it's almost as bad: if you happen to like chess, or demonstrate a facility for polysyllabic words or the ability to comprehend calculus, you're branded as "lah di dah" and you are marked for a daily pummelling for the rest of your school career.
No wonder this country's so wrong. Wrongness is bred into the children from the day they learn to speak.

SIMPLE - because the justice system is too SOFT. What will they get? A slap on the wrist and a measly fine? Or maybe community service? The law needs to be tougher. I also think some of these people have lack of respect for the police and aren't scared of them anymore because of this fact. I think anyone who is caught doing the above should be given an electric shock with a cattle prod. That should deter the wasters. Harsh but effective! Oh but then the police would be sued because of so called "human rights". This country is pathetic and the government is weak.

I think you are very confused only a very small minority of people get drunk at the weekends or get arrested. The taxpayer makes far more out of alcohol than it costs to deal with the consequences and I don't think the proportion of "common" people who live "just for the weekend" has changed significantly or will do so. However I agree about drugs. I think all drug addicts should be able to get any drug on presciption at the normal cost and it should only be an offence to supply drugs to children. This would take all the profit out of dealing in drugs and the drug smugglers would be out of business overnight so no more giving them to our kids at the school entrance to try and get them addicted. No need for customs searching for drugs and we could put the police drug units on dealing with real crimes which would in any case be significantly reduced as the addicts need no longer steal to feed their habit.

Ummm... going out and getting drunk and acting like ar$e$ is just something we HAVE to do when we're young.
As for the question of drug legality - 'cmon. Most people who take *whatever* like the idea that it's illiegal in a kind of romantic way. They're showing 2 fingers to society. It's the same as the drinking thing, but different... (eh?)
Most people grow out of it all. The ones who don't end up on the scrap heap.
I couldn't care less what people shove down their throats or up their noses - have fun, don't hurt no one, and don't get caught. Be good enough to clean up your own sick though!

Now you've got me going. I'm inclined to agree with your temper if not all your words. (There were too many, I got bored and assumed I knew what you were talking about.) It was something about people wasting their time getting drunk and behaving wildy rather than doing something else a bit more meaningful, wasn't it? I couldn't agree more! If I had my way, I'd be out there giving them all a clip around the ear, or maybe a good horse-whipping. Then I'd make them stand in a line and the first person who blinks has to take his trousers off. And so on.

I see what you mean. I personally think that among the millions of people there is a majority of millions which are good and successful and well educated but we do not hear about them because they do not make noise. Happiness has no story to tell.
What makes the news is only bad news and it's only a small percentage of millions of people. This is what I think.
