against terrorist attacks and attacks from other Middle Eastern countries? If so does the U.N. have a right to step in and demand both Isreal and it's enemy at the moment to agree to a cease fire?

Yes, any state has the right to defend itself. However the UN requires that you wait until the attacker has attacked and killed your people before you can retaliate. Now that is stupid.

The UN is a joke, a horrible joke that has cost thousands of innocent lives, try Darfur for starters, and has cost America billions of dollars.

The UN wants to be the one world government led by socialist nutcases and America and Israel should both get out.

Yeahh no Israel should lay down it's arms a take the occassional rocket in the jaw lying down...
Of course they do....however the U.N DOES have a right as the "official" representative of the world collective and striving for a peaceful resolution. The UN has NO RIGHT to condemn Israels reponse....

Yes, Israel has a right to defend itself. I think the UN is just trying to do its job and keep the peace. We haven't seen the last of this.

yes they should the right to defend themselves the UN should stay out of their business and let keep attacking their enemys until they are no more a threat to wipe them out

certaintly Israel has the right todefend it self, if attacted . but, who attacted Israel?? Israel was the one who attacted the lebonese, after the their military men who were in arab territory was captured ,
