Next year im going to be a JR and transfer to a university. I will be 26years old when I transfer. Im thinking about dorming off campus where the food is included and I will share a room with someone else cause its cheaper. I do want to meet new people and think its easier to do so in a dorm. Do you think im too old to dorm, or is it ok?

It really depends on the environment. Some school have transfer halls or halls where there is a good mix of young and older students. It's definitely easier to meet people in the halls than it is off campus, so I would suggest you live in. Maybe you can try to get an older roommate in the hall, so you don't have to worry about living with an 18-year old, but then you could live among lots of other people.

Given your age and maturity, you may find the dorm to be a bit frustrating. Don't you really want to get to know people your own age? I was a non-traditional student and lived off campus, but bought a meal ticket at the dorm That way I got the benefit of lower food cost, a square meal three times a day, and got to meet some of the dorm dwellers. I found living off campus much better, though, since I was able to live more quietly and privately and have a social lifestyle more typical for my age (for example, having my girlfriend spend a night or two a week at my apartment).

This guy who lived across from me last term was 25, and he was a lot of fun! The only wierd thing for you might be always having people ask you to buy them alcohol.

Definitely not too old. In fact, you might be a magnet for people because of your age and maturity. Have fun.

I think it's fine. It probably happens a lot, because some kids party too much, and are there for 10 years...
