Monkeys may be cute but, they do NOT make good pets. Would you think it was cute if your monkey attacked you or someone you love? Would you find it amusing if your monkey adopted the habit of removing it's diaper (it's not possible for them to be litter or potty trained usually) and throwing it's feces around the room? Would you think it's cute to watch your pet sitting in a cage that, no matter how large, will never be a valid substitution for it's natural habitat, and be dpressed to the point of becoming ill? Beyond the issues of being bitten or scratched, it is not really possible for the average homeowner to recreate the type of enviroment and care a monkey needs. It's also very hard to find a vet that will work on a monkey because there are bans on owning monkeys in many states. It would be highly unfair to ANY pet you got if you did not have adequate medical care available for routine visits and emergency purposes.
I know I sound like quite the naysayer here but, really monkeys are not at all a good pet choice. I can't stress that enough. I understand the desire to have a pet and especially one that's super cute! However, there are much better choices than monkeys. Please reconsider.

Monkey's make terrible pets. Not only are you required to have a specialty exotic animal license in many areas; they can pass on diseases to you. Take a look at the link I've included. I would suggest that instead of you owning a monkey for a pet that you seek out a zoo or some place similar and do some volunteer work for them.

Get pictures of them and put them in your room. Trust me. They have teeth and they WILL bite. My boss monkey-sat for someone that had one and it was dirty and was very sensitive to change. As much as I love monkeys (one of my favorite animals), I would not get one as a pet. Think of it this way...constant diaper duty...and they aren't as nice about it as human children are!

Go to the zoo. I had one years ago and they're the dirtiest little critters around
