How many of you got negative results a few days before you missed your period, but found out later you are indeed pregnant? My period is due July 23rd,and I took the 1st Response test this afternoon. I feel pregnant, and we are TTC so did everything we needed to on time this month. {So I thought}...I am just curious how accurate these things are a few days sooner like they advertise.

I think you mean August 23rd?

Yes, I tested too soon with my son and it was negative to be positive 3 days later.

If you read the fine print, they are only 69% correct at like 4 days before, and like 88% two days before.

The body produces HcG hormones when pregnant which is what the test detects. That number doubles every 48 hours in early pregnancy.

Not to discourage you, but even if you time everything right, the average healthy couple only has a 25% chance of conceiving each month, so don't worry.

In fact, they told me at the infertility doctor that stress is a natural birth control. If the body senses danger or tension, it can deter pregnancy.

Relax. Our son was a first try baby and #2 took two years! I know how badly you want this and I HATED it when people told me to relax (I have a medical condition that was not curable by simply relaxing!), but don't make yourself crazy!

so you are close to a month late and you got a negative result? well after a month you should get an accurate result... I have heard of women getting neg results and being pregnant but I wouldn't put too much value in that. My suggestion (if money permits) get 2 different tests... take them with the first morning urine and see the results... if your period still doesn't come go see your doctor for a blood test
good luck

that test is 46% accurate 10 days after ovulation about 56% 11 days 12 days 78% 13 days 86% and 14 days after ovulation the day of a expected period 98% accurate. I took one at 12 days clearly - then at 14 days a FAST + but the line never got as dark as the test line but it showed up VERY QUICK 16 days dark fast line. I'm now 21 weeks. Those test are still most accurate the day you expect a period even thou they say 5 days soon in reality not even half of pregnant women get a + that early. The box even says the % of accuracy at certain days. GOD LUCK IT is very possible to get a - then a + later I've heard of women on my TTC board not getting a + till they were 4 or 5 days late on first resp once AFTER YOU actually miss a period and still get a - your doc may do a blood test.

I did. I tested about 5 days early and got a negative, tested again, 3 days past when I was suppose to start and I got a positive.

Good luck.

I have taken a first response pregancy test also and it was negative. I have an irregular period and endometriosis. I also have a lot of early symptoms of pregnancy. I don't know but I am going to wait for a week and take another one to be sure.

Did you take it in the morning? Look at it very closely to see if there is even a faint line. Usually, with the FR HPT it would show up, but a faint line. I know it's hard to wait, but if you still don't start by your expected date, test again. I did have what I thought was a false and I was pregnant. This was with a FR also, but you could actually see a line if you squinted and held it in the light just right :) lol
Good luck to you

I used the first response test when I thought I was pregnant.....It said NEG. I knew something wasn't right, so I took it every 2 weeks as it says in the directions.....STILL NEG. Went to my dr's. got a blood test POS.....I was 8 weeks along, so I don't put any trust in preg. tests......go visit your dr. if you want to know for sure...............GOOD LUCK............
