Have met both very good and some bad Spanish people. Normally in my experience most are pleasant courteous and have respect for others. A deeply passionate people and more family conscientious than most. The bureaucracy needs a kick in the butt though!

Lived in Arroyo de la Miel for two years...found the Spaniards in that part of the world easy going - but going toward the beaches in, say Torremolinos or Fuengirola - different story. But that was because they had to deal with ignorant Brits (and not all drunk, either...) who would only deal with themselves and not have anything to do with Spaniards...but having said that, they were still tolerant and would be as polite as possible, but would not be as warm as their countryfolk well away from the seafront, say, in the small towns on the way to Granada etc. You are still family orientated and basic - and will treat your bairns like so, instead of dressing them up (especially girls) as sexed-up adults...all in all, it is a fine country, and it's just a damned shame a large percentage of Brits make it nasty not just for Spaniards at certain times of the year, but also for fellow countrymen/women.

Well - I've just returned from holidaying in Spain. I thought that a lot of the Spaniard's were very rude. In saying that the more pleasent people made up for the rudeness! However, I'm sure that the Brits are guilty of arrogance and rudeness towards Spaniards whilst holidaying in the country, which could account for the arrogance and rudeness I felt generated towards us.
When I and my family were out walking the Spanish almost always walked right in our path disregarding our exsistence. In the pool - it appeared people were deliberately swimming, diving and playing dive bombing etc right in our line of target.
In one restuarant we were very lucky to meet people who were friendly, happy and willing to chat. The black men who were selling glasses and jewellery on the streets were really nice and friendly too.

The women are sexy as f**k, I have to say, which is quite pathetic of me. The Spanish seem quite passionate, rosy-cheeked, tanned, sultry, strong people. They have fun and sensible attitudes to stuff. But everyone's different. I'm sure there's a lot of dull and boring Spaniards and I'm sure many of the women wouldn't turn me on.

Hey we love the spanish!! ( not so sure about your builders though!)
Friendly, down to earth. I was there in '67 when Franco was still in charge. Spain had some catching up to do but now it's one of the most exciting parts of Europe. It's still a huge building site but it'll be nice when it's finished!

Pretty friendly people, haven’t be there for years but everyone was nice and yes there are a lot of stray cats as well as in Portugal. There might be a view that some Spanish are slightly racist (though not really mine).

This is going to sound like I'm stereotyping but I don't like the fact that they have bullfights or chase bulls through the streets and throw goats out out of steeples. And they seem to have no respect for stray cats or dogs because every time I go on holiday I always end up looking after them and it makes me really sad. Next year I'm going somewhere else. I'm sure that majority of the spanish are kind to animals but its the minority that have put me off.
