Spike Lee's movie on HBO about Katrina starts tonight. what are your thoughts about why it is taking so long to re-build New Orleans. and do you think they exploded the levee to save the rich side of town

It costs a lot. It's not a city you would build in that location if you were setting out to build a city. It takes more money to overcome location issues. The French Quarter is doing fine, so there is no real hurry with respect to the greatest bang for their tourism buck. Investors will want to get their money back multifold and that's not going to happen with NO's economy. Ineffective leadership. Criminals are more organized than the police. Lot of reasons.

When did spike lee become an authority on anything but complaining? Why is the city not completely rebuilt? Why ask us? Ask School-Bus Nagin. And no, the idea that 'they' destroyed the levees to save the 'rich' side of town is absurd and is baseless theorizing by the have-nots.

new orleans is and i guess will always be classed as poor and therefore no-one wants to help, look how long it took to get aid, now if it was Florida or Texas then we`d c a difference in speed and rebuilding

What's the point of rebuilding it, so another hurricane can come next season and wipe it out again? Come on, who builds a city in a hole..... I feel real bad for the people who were affected, but if it happens again shame on them.
