Is this a good outfit?

For the first day of high school, I want to wear something that makes me stand out in a good way, but I still look like everyone else (if you know what I mean). I'm thinking of wearing a long, dark green see-through top with white polka dots and a cami underneath. It buttons down and ties in the front. My mom says it makes me look grown-up and sophisticated, and I think it's a cute top. I was thinking of wearing it with skinny jeans tucked into these boots: http://store.delias.com/item.do?categoryID=556&itemID=45989&sizeFilter=&colorFilter=&brandFilter= in brown. Will the boots be too much? I really like that look, but I think it might be a little dramatic for the first day of school. What do you think?

I would also appreciate other outfit ideas and make-up and hair tips. I have brown hair and eyes and fair skin.

Okay, you seem to be in the rocker/casual chic style. With the choice of tops and everything. So, that's why I think you should stick to skinny jeans. Maybe then you could try it with thick heeled black sandals or hip sports shoes-- the skinny Puma brand type. For tops, a long t-shirt, tank top or tube top + a vest with either of those tops. And I would stay in the colors of beige, black, silver, brown, khaki and other "army" sort of colors like those. The vest can be a hoodie maybe... not those thin feminine ones maybe!

Now, onto hair... considering that I don't know you're hair length, I'll go for the all-time favorite: a ponytail. But not just any ponytail, mind you. It can be one of those where the top is bunched up higher than the rest (remember Paris Hilton? I hate her but that's basically what I'm talking about). Or, if you have short hair, try doing it so that the hair comes out "spiked". Sort of teased. Sometimes a simple flip of the hair on the other side though is enough. Like you do a line down one side of your head instead of the middle and see the results! They might be pretty good with a bit of luck... ;)

Finally, makeup. I really think dark colors will be best for you. Like, a prune or dark cranberry color for the lips, a darker than your skin earth tone for your blush and... simply black for your eyes. Well, actually dark grey could be nice... Just go dark on the lid and go lighter as you fill the whole eyelid up. And carefully underline you eyes in a thin black line if you want. That could also be good.

I am not really sure about the blouse unless you really feel like being able to pull it off, but if you do, make sure you have something brown to match with the boots. Wearing jeans under boots has always been trendy. Just last night I saw an episode from three's company and Krissy happened to be doing the same thing. Here is another tip; wait for a couple days before wearing skinny jeans out of the boots. Upper-class men might think you are a fashion victim if you wear the skinny jeans with ballerinas on the first day of school, opt for the boots instead. Do not worry the outfit sounds really neat, and the boots won't be too much, the trend is really hot in Mexico sine the beginning of the year, in NYC as well. It won't be dramatic, just take note, you will be in style. Fashonistas will now for sure.

It sounds like a really cute outfit. I'd pick the same color because it softens the outfit. The black boots make it look really dramatic while the brown softens it. Really cute outfit. make up suggestion is just to go easy on it so you don't want to over power the outfit. Maybe like a peach or nude lipgloss and some mascara. Good luck.

It sounds like a really cute outfit. I think that you should straightin your hair and pin back your bangs in a duff puff. Wear big hoop earings and a chunky necklace. Don't make your makeup too drastic just do some gold on the lids and some mascara.

I don't really like the idea of the whole outfit but if you wear other jeans (not skinny- ugh!) and put them over the boots maybe you could make the outfit work.

omg love the boots! you should wear that outfit..boots and skinny jeans are in!
the boots will make the outfit stand out which is good. wear some big beads or pearls, some big bold earrings and chunky bracelets (Delias has good jewelery).for hair scrunch your hair(curls rock by Bed Head) with product or straighten it.. big headband maybe? makeup light/brown mascera (maybe eyeliner),and lipgloss.

Sounds good to me. I don't think the boots would look bad...but if you're still unsure about them maybe you can try some cute flats instead. Just wear what you wanna wear...I'm sure it'll look great!

if you ask me i think its perfect, but i think it also depends on how tall or slender you are. b/c if you tuck it into the boots, does it look like you have an hourglass figure? if so and you like this go for it, if not you can always have the jeans outside of the boots instead
