I have known my girlfriend for 6 months and been going out with her for 2 months. She did an university project with her previous boyfriend 1 year ago. Yesterday she rang her ex-boyfriend to get details of this project. She did not actaully speak to him. Put the phone down before he answered. He walked out on her.

She told me about this. I became really upset. She has spent all of yesterday and today trying to reassure me that she feels nothing for him and that she loves me. Should I believe her?

What ever you do, do not believe her. She is trying to re-establish her relationship with him, or else she would not have tried to contact him.

If you dont believe she loves you by results of a phone call? I'd say, your either really insecure or she's done other things to make you upset.
On the other hand, perhaps your not completely dedicated to the relationship yourself.

she shouldn't have called in the first place. at least she told you about it.

but, if the guy walked out on her, she may have some "unfinished business" or lingering feelings for him. she probably needs closure.

if she hasn't given you any reason not to trust her in the past, give her the benefit of the doubt. let her make things up to you, but keep your eyes on her for awhile. let her know that because of this, she has given you reason to doubt her feelings for you. tell her you want to trust and believe her, but actions like this do not prove her love for you.

good luck.

You sound really insecure in your relationship. Everyone has a past, you just have to accept it, and not torment yourself and her needlessly. If I were her, I'd be walking out on you for being so clingy and insecure; get over it!
