if she plans on returning to work after the baby there shouldnt be a problem because shell have 9 months to get her foot in the door and make a name for herself at the company but she shouldnt feel scared that someone will say something cross to her or that shell amke someone mad because pregnant women need to work just a s much if not more than the next person

Yes, I would be a little nervous too. But right now, it's not a confirmed reality, is it? I would take it one step at a time because I've done the new job, real pregnancy thing too. Some companies are family friendly, most aren't.
By the way, inevitably, if she is, she's going to start showing and then it won't be a secret anymore, support her, lend her an ear, a shoulder, whatever she may need during each step. I would advise this if she confirms her pregnancy, let it get past the 4 month mark, as bad as it is to say, that's when miscarriages are less likely. Then go ahead and have her set up "the talk" with her supervisor.
Good luck, one step at a time.

I was in a similar situation. I started a new job, then got pregnant two weeks later. The only drawback was that when my baby was born, I hadn't been there a full year yet, so I didn't qualify for FMLA, and I wasn't able to take off a full 3 months after he was born. They allowed me 8 weeks and still held my job for me. If I had taken off more than that, they would have fired me, and I would have lost our medical and dental benefits for the family.

This same thing happened to me. Although employers are not allowed to discriminate against pregnant women, if they know they may use some other excuse not to hire her. I didn't start showing until I was 4 months pregnant, and that's when I decided to tell. I was still granted maternity leave.

Yes, I would be nervous. My neighbor started a new job, never told them that she was pregnant, and when they found out, they laid her off w/o a reason. Unfortunately, if they find out they can lay her off and lie to her about the reason that it was done. I am pregnant and would not start a new job b/c of the fact that I would know that I had to take off.

Yes. Employers can take news like that badly. I understand her concerns. On the other hand, waiting to start a job until after she knows for sure may be worse.

if she doesn't know yet then theres nothing to worry about, if in a few weeks she find out, tell them. they cant fire her, if anything they might be upset. its good though cause if the job has benifits, depending on how good they are she can take maternity leave. I hope that she has insurance through your job though. good luck I hope you get the answer you want!

It depends how much labor she has to do.
If a little, no need to mention right now.
If a lot, mention quickly. But offer to the employer everything she can do. Remember they wanted to hire her. They'll want to work something out.
