You answer your own question - she is above party politics, and as you say you wish to be loyal to a head of state rather than a government.

He does meet her once a week to discuss the affairs of state, and says he greatly values her experience but I don't know how often she has influenced his decisions.

God promised King David that there would never fail to be one sitting on David's throne until the end of the age. The general thought is that this throne is the throne of England, due to the fact that the monarchy can be traced back to David through the various conquests and mergers. All English monarch's are crowned while sitting on a stone believed to be the stone that Isaac set up to honor God. "God Saved the Queen" is an plea that God will never forget His promise to King David.

I believe the monarchy is what makes us unique. The Queen does actually have powers to dissolve government. I like the idea that someone can actually have the power to legally stop a government that is going wrong. And for your information the prime minister visits the queen once a week to keep her informed of what is going on. The Queen is a great ambassador for our country, and also entertains foreign governments and leaders for official functions. The Monarchy is what makes us what we are, it is our heritage and culture. I can't be bothered voting in ageneral election, and haven't for years. As far as I'm concerned they're all the same, but if it came to voting to keep our monarchy, You bet I'd be there, as would millions of us!

Well I am sure Queen Elizabeth and her family speak very highly of you too. The Queen is still head of the church and does have rights over the government but does not intervene. Apart from that the royal family generate a huge revenue for the country from foreign visitors and tourists. I love the fact that we still have a royal family, to have a president or similar would be dull and just not British.

the queen acts as a focus for the nation to join together and represents the UK around the world. in regards to our prime minister being photographed at "the queens house", i really do not understand what resonse you expect - are you trying to say that tony blair never visits the queen? the queen is kept up to date by tony blair and recieves regular updates from him, in person. the queen is very much an important head of society - yes her role may have become less influential during this modern age, but hey - are you suggesting we don't have a government? the fact the queen is not in control of "running the country" shows how we as a nation have adjusted to the times. society requires a government. i am going to stop now - i don't know why i am trying to convince such an ignorant person as you why both the government and the monarchy is important. think about it for yourself.

No point unless you like to celebrate Dictatorship and despotism as good ideas rather than a reminder of the barbarity practiced by violence addicted thugs who are lucky to have survived so long. God should save the Queen because few others would.

Tony Blair has weekly meetings with the Queen.

It isn't publicised because it isn't news - it happens every week and is in private.

I did used to think that we would be OK without a Monarchy but more recenty I am thiking this country wouldn't be the same without them.

The Queen is the head of state and thats the way it should be. She signs everything off before it becomes law - every single one.

I don't believe in the Royal Family and think they are all a waste of time and money ...... however all things dictating to this Country has to be "approved by the Queen" ... the other alternative is to end up with President Blair, this not not bear thinking about.
Let's be honest we are a Country that is Governed by the President of the USA and his "little poodle Tony."

Does not the queen still have the power to dissolve the Parliament and rule again if necessary? For some reason, I am thinking that in case of a national emergency, she can declare the throne sovereign again. I can be wrong, but I believe that is possible.

In America, if they say "God save the Queen", it means they are talking about most of the people in San Fransisco, or a burrough in New York City.

Here's an irony. Your question? It wound up in front of me onscreen, guess where? California. I'm sure you'll arrive at some solution. They do have a lot of moral pull but, look at our world today. The British are still quite an admired people, generally speaking. I understand that for all that is ascribed to them, the Royal Familys' holdings are chiefly - in art.
